Jeri Ryan -- The Real Obama Girl

Jeri Ryan, Barack ObamaIf Barack Obama ends up winning the White House, the first person he should probably thank on Election Night is ... Jeri Ryan. Like, "Star Trek's" Seven of Nine Jeri Ryan? Yup.

Let's explain.

Back in 2004, when Obama was a small-time State Senator from Illinois and running for a U.S. Senate seat, his GOP opponent was Jack Ryan, a super-wealthy businessman who was actually favored in the contest -- and who had gone through a messy divorce from ... Jeri Ryan.

The divorce was a slapfight of Hasselhoffian proportions, and Jeri's allegations that Jack had forced her to go to sex clubs in New York and Paris -- and wanted her to have sex with him in the clubs -- completely ruined Jack's campaign ... and Obama went on to win the seat. And now, perhaps, the one in the Oval Office.

We asked Ryan's rep how she feels about it, but haven't heard back yet.

41. That is so sad that TMZ would go there and paint a picture that if Jack Ryan wasn't caught up in a messy scandal..Obama wouldn't be here today as a potential candidate. Its truly a sad state that this country is headed... this country is in major need of change. To be honest, I do read TMZ for the tidbits..but I would love to have the tables turn and uncover the scandals of the lives of the TMZ reporters..yall have some real nerve,,,no matter what is said..Obama is a good front runner and he has my vote.

TMZ---try to do a little fact-checking before posting these lame stories.

Jeri Ryan's divorce was finalized in 1999. They were NOT in the middle of their divorce. Political opponents of Jack Ryan (not Obama's camp, to be clear here) got a California judge to unseal the OLD divorce records. In fact, Jeri Ryan actually fought to keep the records sealed.

You guys are so far off on this story it is pathetic. And anyone who follows politics even a little bit knows how the story ACTUALLY went down.

Her rep probably hasn't responded yet because she can't believe anyone could be so completely stupid.

That IS how Obama got elected. The Chicago news sent Jack Ryan down in flames due to a sex scandal. Obama then went from being almost a sure loser to running against a weak, 11th-hour opponent, and was essentially handed the election.

Although I don't think he's qualified (yet) to be our president, I was happy he won that senate seat. The facts have nothing to do with race, and trying to turn everyone and everything into a racist does not help anything.
