Jessica Alba's Mexican Standoff

Mamacita-to-be Jessica Alba was totally mum when a photog yelled at her in Spanish, asking if she was embarrassed about her Mexican roots on Thursday. No habla espanol o ingles!

After Senorita Alba, who has Mexican, French and Danish roots, made controversial statements about her Mexican ethnicity and upbringing, reports claimed she was ashamed of her Hispanic heritage.

Alba, a "third-generation American," currently graces the cover of Latina magazine -- where she addresses the "haters."

47. #19 and #29.....She does NOT have any curves!!! She is anorexic! You mean only her lips make her attractive. Do not include curves because those are absent!

49. That photographer was wrong, give the woman her space. Sides, I am sure Alba is proud of her roots. Just because, she does not wear her roots on her sleeves like some so called Latinas, does not make her a bad person. Would anyone be happy with a camera right in your face, while you are pregnant? No, So get over it!

50. She deserves it anyway, She's said in MULTIPLE interviews that she DOES not consider herself Latin, She said HERSELF that her grandpa worked to hard to raise them a certain way so they wouldn't have to "deal" with racism....she's a a-hole!!! Strong people would embrace their roots no matter what, you need to face demons, that's what makes you a strong person. And I don't get it......she said she doesn't want to consider herself latin, and yet now she's taking advantage of appearing on a LATIN magazine! one word.......OPPORTUNIST!!!

51. i grew up with the same mentality, my parents are not American, but they influence us to be American. I did not know spanish between 6-18, but when i turned into an adult, i took it upon myself to accept my roots. I speak very good spanish, with no American accent, and excellent english with no spanish accent. its about the individual and what you embrace.

52. Leave the woman alone, she's AMERICAN, she was born and raised here, If you read the quotes from "Proud to be Latina" Abla says her grandparents were born in California, her parents were born in America, she was born in America, my goodness- she's American, why does anyone think for a second that she has to proclaim herself as Mexican-American or Hispanic. I'm from Italy, and I moved here with my parents when I was 15, and I am proud to be an AMERICAN, I don't feel the need to distinguish myself as an Italian- American, I'm not embarrased about my roots but I don't feel the need to have to be distinguished by my heritage. Some people feel that if you don't proclaim from the rooftops your heritage, if people are so darn proud of their heritage and love it so much go back to where ever your family came from and leave the US.

54. It ignorant media has misinterpreted here comment...

She stated you does not like being called "latina" She is Mexican and prefers to be called Mexican or hispanic.

It's a matter of preference to many hispanic/latino people. Just as it is to some Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Costa Ricans, Salvadorean, Spanish, etc. The Latino term is too generic and used most often to describe Central American and Carribean. Hispanic is more confined to Mexican, Salvadorean, Guatemalan, and other parts of South American.

59. Give this girl some slack! Have any of you ever been raised in an immigrant family? The truth is that after the 3rd generation, most Americans no longer identify themselves as part of a minority ethnic group.
