48. If you have to tell people that your a queen, then, you're not; atleast not to anyone but yourself. Maybe Aretha should legally dropthe 'Franklin' and add the 'Queen of Soul', to ensure that she's introduced that way.

52. everyone including Aretha should get off Beyonce's back. The WRITERS wrote the intro....not Beyonce. And YES....Aretha is and always will be the QUEEN of Soul.......but for goodness sake.....get over yourself and your ego, Aretha. it was one stupid word. and IMHO it was one of the BEST intros for Tina EVER! She still totally kicks it and looks amazing and perhaps.....just perhaps.....Aretha is a tad jealous of how good Tina looks at 67!!

53. Why the hell is there even any competition? Beyonce paid homage to BOTH stars in her opening, and many others. Each performer is top-notch and has made considerable contributions to the music industry in her own right! It really panders to the (often incorrect) stereotypes of women being catty when they give in to such competition. No competition need exist! Aretha is legitimately known as the Queen of Soul. So Beyonce's calling Tina simply "the queen" did absolutely NOTHING to take away from her title. It has come across as looking extremely narcissistic and juvenile on Aretha's part, at least to me. There's something about having grace and the professionalism NOT to make public statements of that ilk. On this one, I agree w/Beyonce's father. Aretha's old enough to know better, and should feel confident enough in herself and her "title."

Unlike other “girl groups in the 60’s” she did it on her own and solo and when she was named the “queen of soul” it was a titled that she had earned with sweat and tears. Some of you wippersnappers may not realize a few things here about her.

1. She has had a total of eighteen #1 R&B singles - a record unsurpassed by any other female recording act - and a total of seventeen top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

2. She is one of only three musicians (the others being Madonna and Marvin Gaye) who have placed a single on every charted position of the Billboard top ten pop singles chart.

3. On January 3, 1987, she became the FIRST WOMAN to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

4. In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked her #9 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. The 8 before her were the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, and Little Richard finished ahead of her on this list. Ray Charles finished at 10. (Tina was ranked #61 and Beyonce wasn’t even a thought)

Tina Turner is an AWESOME performer and a class act, her story is different, she showed us that she could make it big, then loose it all and then have the courage to come back and give us music that we will never forget. She is also more a rock artist than an R&B artist & has been titled “the queen of rock & roll”, however she does not use that title as Aretha has. Aretha has always been introduced as “the queen” or “the queen of soul”

56. I have to admit when I think of the Queen of Soul I think of Aretha. To me there is no comparison between her and Tina. Don't get me wrong I love Tina too. But I do feel Aretha should not be upset at Beyonce's ignorance. She's young and just doensn't know any better. Aretha know she is and alway will be the Queen of Soul. And as far as only thinking of ONE song of Aretha's? WTF?? Aretha had way too many to even begin to name. And her music was before my time but I did grow up listening to my mom play both ladies.

57. I think Aretha Franklin made a fool of herself with her childish and petty comments. Tina Turner was introduced as The Queen, NOT as the Queen Of Soul, THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE! I immediately lost every ounce of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. I ever had for Ms Franklin after this ridiculous tantrum. Get over yourself already.

58. Aw po little beyonce sends her dad out to reprimand aretha for her. who is the childish one now? at least have the guts to issue your own statement. HIGHLY doubt she'd do so, just likes to hid behind papa's leg.
