"Impossible" Chef Caught in Very Possible Lies

The hard-ass British chef who stars in Food Network's "Dinner: Impossible" is finding that spinning tall tales about one's background is no cakewalk -- and now the network says it's investigating his alleged misrepresentations. Oh, deah.

Robert Irvine has claimed all over the place that he'd helped design Prince Charles and Princess Di's wedding cake, among other things. But after an oddly thorough investigation by the St. Petersburg Times, Irvine admits he didn't really bake it -- or have anything to do with it ... and that's just the icing.

"It's unfortunate if Robert embellished the extent of his culinary experiences," said a Food Network rep. "We are investigating the matter and taking the necessary steps to ensure the accuracy of all representations of Robert on Food Network and foodnetwork.com."

Irvine had no further comment today.

31. I also baked a cake for princess Dianna of Whales. I was expecting her and her new "Boy Toy" Dodie ?...Anyways she was invited to my Birthday Party in Paris France. She never called or even showed up! I HATE HER! now I'm going to tell our little secret....don't tell anyone! She never loved Prince Charles with his big "JUG-HEAD" ears you can bounce satellite transmissions off. Can you imagine yourself on a bed with the prince NAKED...now act like you are Dianna and look up like she had to watching and listening to Prince Charles with that red receding hair thrusting on and in you?

SHE WAS NOT BELIMIC!

32. Sad. Really sad. I've enjoyed watching the guy. Now I'm starting to wonder just what the hell he actually is. Chef? Or Con artist?

Does the Food Network even bother to check the credentials of the people they want on their network??? In mid-2007, they ended up having to kick out Joshua Adam Garcia (AKA "JAG") off of it's Next Food Network Star reality show because it was found he lied about his background to get on the show. And now...Robert Irvine??? If this type of crap keeps popping up, Food Network is going to lose a TON of credibility!!! If Wal-Mart can do background checks on everybody who applies for a job at their company, the idiots at Food Network sure as hell can do it.

39. Everyone embellishes their resumes and the vast majority don't get caught, but if you are then you've got some explaining to do. Hopefully by the time people catch on you've proven yourself and it becomes a non-issue. He's got a good show.

40. He has proven he can do what he is paid to do. I'm wondering why anyone would do an expose on Robert Irvine period...he only does one show for Food Network. As for embellishing the truth, I'm not for that. Honestly should be forthcoming. He apparently has done some of the things he has stated, but just enhanced somewhat.. however...Food Network primarily looks at the ENTERTAINMENT value of its shows, not the actual expertise.I'm sure the people making the decisions at Food Network has fudged their resumes a little too.(Those goofy judges on The Next Food Network Star )I hope it all gets straighteded out because Robert is quite likeable on his own and even more so with Paula Deen.

41. I like his show, if everyone that's lied was fired from their job, everyone would be out of work.

42. He doesn't look older than 40 - which would have made him - well, somewhere around 11 to 13 when princess Diana married. He may have licked the beaters!!!

43. Who cares..if people like his show that's all that should matter...someone got jealous and busted him out..why do people hate seeing other people succeed???
