"Impossible" Chef Caught in Very Possible Lies

The hard-ass British chef who stars in Food Network's "Dinner: Impossible" is finding that spinning tall tales about one's background is no cakewalk -- and now the network says it's investigating his alleged misrepresentations. Oh, deah.

Robert Irvine has claimed all over the place that he'd helped design Prince Charles and Princess Di's wedding cake, among other things. But after an oddly thorough investigation by the St. Petersburg Times, Irvine admits he didn't really bake it -- or have anything to do with it ... and that's just the icing.

"It's unfortunate if Robert embellished the extent of his culinary experiences," said a Food Network rep. "We are investigating the matter and taking the necessary steps to ensure the accuracy of all representations of Robert on Food Network and foodnetwork.com."

Irvine had no further comment today.

61. If all it takes to get a gig on Food Network is some outrageous lie, count me in. Perhaps Food Network might do themselves a favor by checking backgrounds BEFORE they try to make someone a star

62. He was born in 1965, that would have made him 15/16 at the time of the wedding depending on when his actual birthday is.

73. I say give the man a chance to explain and apologize for any wrong doing.

Lord knows I've stretched the truth here and there to get my foot in the door to places.

He is obviously a great chef with a lot of knowledge.

74. Is Robert Irving dumb??!! YES! He obviously wants the fame and money. Wasn't he ever taught that all your lies will catch up with you eventually???? I have watched his show, Dinner Impossible since it first aired on the food network. So I know for a fact that they always say, he was chef to some of the presidents and the important people. So that means Robert knows how they introduce him on his show, why didn't he just tell the producers and directors of his show that those comments about him were false???? Dinner Impossible WAS one of my favorite shows but after reading what they have discovered about him and his answers to the questions he was asked, I AM NOT AND WILL NOT CONTINUE TO WATCH DINNER IMPOSSIBLE! The show should now be called, DINNER IMPOSTOR!
