Lutfi Drug Probe -- Full Steam Ahead

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the LAPD investigation into Sam Lutfi allegedly drugging Britney Spears is well underway.

We're told the case has now been assigned to Robbery Homicide, primarily because of the sensitive nature of the allegations and the intense media interest in Britney Spears. Sources say investigators have interviewed several witnesses regarding the drugs in Brit's system at the time she was most recently committed.

We're told the investigation had been temporarily derailed because of the death of an LAPD SWAT officer, but it's now back on track.

One source says the investigation will probably be concluded in late March.

47. Absolutely no reason to think the LAPD is investigating the administration by Lutfi of *illegal* drugs although they might find some evidence of that, too. According to Spears' mother Lutfi told her that he put Spears' prescribed medications in her food and also (at least once) gave Spears something to make her happy, in a good mood, etc. Isn't obvious that the case is in Homicide/Robbery because LAPD suspects that there were attempts (intentional or not) on Spears' life? As well, there may be a parallel investigation into Lutfi's illegal acquisition of monies and other valuables owned by Spears.

50. Hmm...Most of you don't know much and it shows with your comments....For one, Brit has passed drug tests. Even when she was thought to be under the influence at the time she had her kids "hostage". Very much passed the drug test. Those of you who say she could have refused don't know the story this follows. The claim is that he drugged her without her knowledge, and she is not accusing him of this. Her mother claims he told her this in cofidence. He says he was trying to "heal her brain". Make sure you know the story before you make any further comments. =)

54. alright alright, how did lufti came into britney life in the first place? where did britney meet this guy? who introduce them? and who where behind the drugs? is it lufti was helping or destroying britney, it is only up to britney to tell the truth, but if her parents wants to accuse her of being crazy to control her and deprive her of her rights as a person, the only prove will be is that of the test of the hospital. maybe the time sam came into her life she was really desperate for anyone to help, I seriously have a big question mark on the parents motive to come now into brintey life? where were they before?
