LAPD chief William Bratton has the secret to solving the "paparazzi problem" in Los Angeles -- lock Britney Spears in her house! Who would be against that?
The chief was on with Patt Morrison on 89.3 KPCC-FM radio Wednesday when he was asked about proposed legislation designed to curb the paparazzi. Check out his response.
31. Does any one really believe they wont follow her where ever she goes. As for staying home I seem to remember some shots through her bedroom window a few days ago. Some even stuck up for the paps then also saying it was her fault for not having her curtains all the way closed. I think Woody and Brad Garrett have the right idea.

33. That is the most idiotic statement ever. Britney is not a criminal and should not be confined to house arrest which is EXACTLY what this suggests. Do the paps come out when she comes out? Yes, but should she be required not to live her life because of their actions? No more than we, as non-celebrities should be confined to our own homes. Couple that with the fact that Britney is mentally ill and incapable of sound decisions. Paps are no better than professional stalkers and should be legally reprimanded for that rather than placing all "hot" celebrities on house arrest for committing no crime save for being flavour of the day.

34. HOW ABOUT DOING YOUR JOB WHEN THE MOB THAT MASQUERADES AS "JOURNALISTS" CREATES A HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENT, AND BREAKS THE LAW.
I agree completely that her behavior creates problems, but the problem we are talking about is NOT her acting like a fool, it's the dangerous collection of photographers running in traffic and across property to snap a picture....... and for what, the BIG PAY DAY that bottom feeders like Harvey pay.
To suggest she stays home is outrageous. Arrest the lawbreakers. Enforce the laws CURRENTLY on the books that these photo-sharks are breaking.

35. Great comments from the Chief - finally some common sense prevails. If and it's a BIG IF, Britney doesn't like the paps stalking her there are ways to avoid them that SHE can imploy so that she doesn't have to remain house bound - her choice.
The Chief is exactly right and I hope he will keep repeating the message loud and clear.

I would say and now we know why they have such a crappy system if this is the idiot in charge Last time I checked, like her or not, Brit was a citizen of this country and has the same rights and freedoms the rest of us do and just like the rest of us, she ought to be able to freely leave her house and go out and not have to deal with all this stuff! 41. As if! I agree, this man has NO right, as to make HIS job easier, by asking Brit to stay home. That's like asking implying that ALL victims of crimes are victims because they asked for it by leaving the safety of their homes. IF no one EVER left, what on earth would this man do for a living. He's an embarrassment and needs his mouth taped shut as he just put a HUGE clowd over the LAPD - sure hope he had the permission to speak-out as Spokesperson for the department - if not, iffn' I was HIS boss, he'd be applying for a security job for Brit.
BTW, my thoughts are ... Britney needs to get a camera and follow the paps around for a while ... become a pap herself... they won't arrest her, as they don't arrest anyone else for snapping pics.
