Oscars are a TV ratings dud

The Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) â The Oscars are a ratings dud. Nielsen Media Research says preliminary ratings for the 80th annual Academy Awards telecast are 14 percent lower than the least-watched ceremony ever.
Nielsen said Monday that overnight ratings are also 21 percent lower than last year, when "The Departed" was named best picture.

The older actors in my opinion have far more class and don't forget their humble beginnings. They also recognize they would not have the career they do, if it were not for their fans. Way to go Mr. Ford! You made alot of fan's day.

george clooney is SUCH a funk cubby. he needs to get over himself and stop thinking he knows everything. i also think its great that such a "political and reasonable" man who proclaims the injustice in our government and society doesn't even give his fans justice.

Actor and NRA President Charlton Heston is taking film star George Clooney to task after Clooney's reported wisecrack over Heston's Alzheimer's disease.
New York Post columnist Liz Smith wrote Sunday that while Clooney was accepting an award from the National Board of Review last week, he said that "Charlton Heston announced again today that he is suffering from Alzheimer's."
When Smith asked the actor if he went too far with his remarks, Clooney -- who's against the gun lobby -- responded, "I don't care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association; he deserves whatever anyone says about him."
According to the Internet Movie Database, Heston responded to Clooney's remarks by noting the "class" of the actor's late aunt, singer-actress Rosemary Clooney.
"It just goes to show that sometimes class does skip a generation," Heston was reported as saying.
The sad and ugly remarks made by George Clooney against a man's incurable and incurable disease for political gain will never be forgotten by those who have loved ones or friends suffering from any type of dementia whether from Altzheimers, Aids, or stroke.

Clooney's pompous arrogance has always made him unattractive to me. Many women think heâs gorgeous, but I just canât see beyond that attitude. I was ecstatic when he lost the Oscar again. You can tell he really wants it.

What a pompous jerk Clooney is. Millions of people suffer from Alzheimer's disease, my father included. Plus, my grandmother died from it. Wonder what the masses would say if he made a pitiful statement about Farrah Fawcett and her disease. This attitude shows no class nor respect for the upstanding, awesome, classy actor that Charlton Heston is.
Other note: Kudos to Harrison Ford for remembering just who made Indiana Jones a household name!

Arrogant pompous ass! His movies are pretty much all box office disasters! What class? Because he dresses well? Harrison Ford's movies made billions . There is no comparison between Clooney and Mr. Ford. Harrison wins hands down not just because of his movies but also as a down to earth kind gentleman! Clooney can't carry a movie that he needs people like Brad Pitt and Matt Damon to get a hit.

Heston full of class? How many deaths has gun ownership laws in the US caused? How much damage has the Republican party caused, which he has actively campaigned for the past 30 years?
How about watching Michael Moor's Columbine or simply doing some reseach on the stupid gun control laws. Cloony is fighting for all the right reasons. The alzheimer's joke might have been kind of low, but it's not like it's a really embarrassing disease or some extremely sensitive subject, it happens to a lot of people when they grow old. If you find making fun of fat people or ugly people or generally stupid people "ok", then you need to stfu about alzheimer jokes.

C'MON..give Mr. Clooney a break....afterall, he was using all of his energy trying to convince EVERYONE that he is straight....the "girlfriend"...well, she does a fair job of making it believeable...he's a modern day "ROCK HUDSON"...used to think he was cute, gay or not, but he's a big drinker and starting to look like a middle aged drunk...
