While I personally detest the diamond trade considering the angst (to put it mildly) it has caused. However, how anyone spends their own riches is a personal choice about what makes them feel good in their own chosen environment. These fellows are wearing a style that is as socially acceptable in their own social setting as any other rich person who chooses to wear their bling in a style deemed appropriate by their own peers. How one chooses to accessorize should not be considered foolish if they are accessorizing for their environment. If you are offended by their ownership and style of jewelry, it is because you think you know something better than they do. Evidently you do not, because if you did, you'd also realize that from that point of view, it would also be in poor taste to wear any jewelry at all that cost enough to feed a small country or even a destitute family for a year. That scenario would include those who wear the baubles of so-called class and elegance. Did it even occur to you that your idea of elegance and class may well be enjoyed by many, but that others of similar financial status enjoy a whole different scene? Can you imagine the elegant and monied set trying to dress and party like the monied and hip-hop set? They are different so they wear it differently and they enjoy it differently. That makes neither set foolish. It's just people enjoying the wealth that they have either earned or inherited. That's all.
