"Idol" Contestant Wigs Out

After once being linked to Britney Spears, "American Idol" contestant Robbie Carrico picked up one of the popwreck's habits -- a love for wigs!

TMZ has learned the 26-year-old long-haired wannabe's mane is actually a wig and it's got "Idol" execs flipping out. Sources tell us Robbie never talks about his matted down piece and that makes production members feel like it's the blonde elephant in the room. It seems Simon was right last night -- Robbie is a fake!

Where's Sanjaya's pony-hawk or Kat McPhee's extensions when you need them?!

A rep for "Idol" would not comment.

33. First of all, for TMZ to even be commenting on this is just pathetic; IT'S NOT RELEVANT TO HIS TALENT!! That said, all of you total morons who just keep adding inane comments about it are even MORE PATHETIC!! Do any of you realize how many male celebrities wear hair extensions, toupees, hairpieces, etc.? Believe me, many more than you can imagine, and you'd never be able to tell because they can afford to have these services provided to them by the most skilled professionals in the world. It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with his talent. When you are watching him perform and listening to him sing, does his hair change the way his voice sounds? If so, you've got serious issues that require help that sitting around posting on TMZ cannot provide you with! So c'mon people, get over it. If you want to bitch about something, at least make it about something of substance that actually affects you!

38. What I would like to know is if the person making the RUDE comments about West Virginia has ever been to the state? I've lived here all of my life and traveled to MANY other states and can tell you there are "rednecks" (as you call them) in EVERY state, not just West Virginia. I have a college education, a good paying job, as many others in our beautiful state. I'm sure that the commenter isn't perfect either and shouldn't be passing judgement upon others.

44. it's most definitely a wig, or something of the sort, i've been trying to figure out what is up with his hair (mainly because its utterly distracting when he tries to "rock"). He should just get extensions they look way better and it will hide his obviously thinning hair...even better shave it off, long hair is lame. Plus, a shaved head would go better with his boyband/rockgod image.
