"Idol" Contestant Wigs Out

After once being linked to Britney Spears, "American Idol" contestant Robbie Carrico picked up one of the popwreck's habits -- a love for wigs!

TMZ has learned the 26-year-old long-haired wannabe's mane is actually a wig and it's got "Idol" execs flipping out. Sources tell us Robbie never talks about his matted down piece and that makes production members feel like it's the blonde elephant in the room. It seems Simon was right last night -- Robbie is a fake!

Where's Sanjaya's pony-hawk or Kat McPhee's extensions when you need them?!

A rep for "Idol" would not comment.

109. I KNEW HE WORE A WIG, BECAUSE AFTER THE FIRST SHOW HIS RAG LOOKED LUMPY.THEN THIS WEEK HIS HAIR WAS OUT OF ALINMENT AND ODD. TALK ABOUT FAKE ROCKER, HE IS LIKE THAT FAKE ROCKER IN THAT MOVIE THAT MARK WALBURG DID AS A ROCKER WHEN HE SHOWED UP TO L.A. AND THE GAY BRITISH GUY TOOK HIS WIG OFF AFTER BEING KICKED OFF THE BAND DRAGONSLAYER OR SOME NAME LIKE THAT.

113. Who cares if he wears a wig. Beoynce and Tyra and Cher and hundreds of others wear them on a daily basis. So I dont get it. Whats the big deal. You guys dont even mention Beyonce or Tyra or Chers wigs. You can see the lace front wig right across their forehead. Let me school some of you.......A lace front wig is a regular wig except in the front going across the forhead there is a lace piece that sticks out. You get it cut to frame your forhead and the big that is left sticking out of the wig you glue to your forhead then put makeup over it. The "lace" is translucent so it blends with the skin. It is like putting clear tape on you then covering it with make-up. If you google tyra or Beyonce and look a the images, you will see the line right under the hairline on their forehead going right across. Just ook carefully. So now this guy has a wig on. Not sure if it is a lace front because I dont see a line across his forehead so it might be a regular wig but so what. Alot of men do it you just assume they dont because they dont do it as much as women....

114. He *is* from WV. He moved when his mom got a job offer in FL....when he was younger, around 12 or 13 I believe. And P.S. Back off with the rude comment about being from WV....you're a complete and utterly close-minded moron. I'm from WV and PROUD of it. And I have ALL of my teeth, my mom is not my sister, and guess what?? *GASP* I have running water too! So SHUT UP. I'm sick of the stereotypes.....GROW UP or SHUT UP!

116. Easy to tell this is a hair piece. Probably the skull cap inside gave it away. So much for the AI staffers making good choices. The show's a sham. Especially with its damage control which has every contestant who is not an amateur speaking to that effect in their bios.

The spirit of this show was to find undiscovered talent tucked away in far off places, not to put a bunch of second and third tier flame outs up for bids.
