"Idol" Contestant Wigs Out

After once being linked to Britney Spears, "American Idol" contestant Robbie Carrico picked up one of the popwreck's habits -- a love for wigs!
Robbie Carrico

TMZ has learned the 26-year-old long-haired wannabe's mane is actually a wig and it's got "Idol" execs flipping out. Sources tell us Robbie never talks about his matted down piece and that makes production members feel like it's the blonde elephant in the room. It seems Simon was right last night -- Robbie is a fake!

Where's Sanjaya's pony-hawk or Kat McPhee's extensions when you need them?!

A rep for "Idol" would not comment.

121. I think the whole show is a total joke this year. Robbie, the Aussie guy and the one with the trends are the only really talented ones. Now with Robbie gone i don't know if I will even watch it. And who cares if it's a wig like someone said before his hair maybe thinning and he just wanted to look his best. I mean half the girls on the show including Paula have hair extensions and from past shows the girls have had extensions. Does anyone remember when they tried to get Fanstia(not sure of the spelling) to have hair extensions put in and she said no. I think Robbie should have been judged on his talent and not his hair. I hope that Robbie will continue on with his singing career I know I would buy his album. One more thing I would like to address while I'm here the comment about people from West Virginia, well I am from Kentucky right on the border with West Virginia. Believe it or not we all actually wear shoes and we don't all marry our family members **if you know history it was the Greeks and the Royal Families that were the in-breeders". But I have to say there are some in our beautiful states that do give us a bad rep; but remember not all black people are drug dealers, not all mexicans are grass cutters and not everybodies hair is real. Stop the trying to hurt Robbie with the rude and cruel comments about his hair remember he is a human being that had the courage to audition make it to Hollywood and sing in front of millions of people not too many people have that kind of courage. Robbie we love ya hair and all. And I do agree with some comments made about Ryan Seacrest and Simon why don't they just get over themselves they are horrible actors and can some please help Paula complete a full sentence and make her stop babbling on:)

123. His hometown isn't Melbourne. I grew up with him in Port St. John, FL
From 2nd grade until the talent scouts came and plucked him from a dance recital when he was 16.
I sure that the only reason he joined Boyz n Girlz United was to get out of our sad, poor little town.
I haven't the slightest idea about his hair. Looks like the "Idol" stylists did him wrong.
