Warning: TMZ Causes Cancer

Sure, we dish it out, and we can take it too -- but Illeana Douglas definitely crossed a line when she walked around Hollywood last night with a sign reading, "TMZ causes cancer. Stop filming celebrities, start filming poverty."

The irony -- or we're hoping, the point of this gutless stunt -- is that Douglas was at the premiere of and supporting the new season of "Dirt," the FX series starring Courteney Cox, which is all about filming celebrities.

46. I love you, TMZ...hahahaaaa And really, if people want to complain so much about what you do/film...STOP VISITING THE SITE! Wow...so hard to grasp.

47. Well, let's see. I check TMZ everyday. Yet, everyday I feel a little more skanky about doing it...and yeah, the incessant Brit-barefootin'-at-the-gas-station-posts, the "look-at-Barbara Walter's camel-toe" posts, the "look-at-Ethan-Hawke's booger" posts are all wearing me down. You're all earning money by stalking/humiliating people - and at least half of them are pretty nice people. However, there's 5000 old white guys making billions off the war, so I suppose perspective is in order. You still have to look yourself in the mirror every night - after another day making fun of Lauren Bacall's pants falling down, and Winehouse's truly horrific addiction. Just make sure to pick up some self-help books now for your inevitable mid-life realization that you've spent your only go-round on earth sitting in a trash can

48. 38. I sure hope those TMZER'S that Harvey has on at night are going to college during the day preparing for the REAL world
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right? Couldn't you just slap most of them? (the motley crew in the "newroom" and I use the term "newsroom" very lightly) I hate arrogance, stupidity and narcicism in my celebs let alone in the mentally immature nobodys muggin for the camera who report on them...PLEEZE! Harvey I can't even wath your show anymore...between the pointless, unentertaining von A-hole "complete waste of time clips" and your staff of half-wits mouthing off to the camera...i just can't anymore.

50. TMZ IS STARTING TO MAKE ME SICK. HARVEY YOU NEED TO LOOK CLOSELY AT YOUR EDITORIAL. I HAVE NOTICED NOW AT LEAST THREE TIMES WHEN SOMEONE IS CIRITICAL OF YOU GUYS YOU DISS THEM, AND IN SOME CASES, DON'T EVEN REPORT ON STORIES WHERE YOU GOT INTO TROUBLE.

YOU GUYS ARE CONNECTED TO CNN. YOU NEED TO HAVE SOME ACCOUNTABILITY. IF SOME INTERN OR ANY REAL TMZ PERSON READS THESE BOARDS, YOU GUYS GOTTA DO BETTER.

51. Commenting/journalling on what celebs/people actually DO seems far more REAL to me than playing dressup and pretending to be someone else on a screen like some five year old playing Barbies, for ridiculous money. Just saying. It's only when you get into the income bracket of these indignant but myopic stars that one even has the luxury to even consider or practice philanthropy. Most folks are scrambling, trying to feed themselves and put a roof over their heads, and especially now. They enjoy reading brief tidbits on rich, famous people who mess up just like they do. I guess Ms. Douglas has lost touch with the little people. Save the world yourself. The rest of us will help when we get ahead a little bit.

52. WE ARE IMPORTANT STARS. We just want to make big money with no media accountability, kinda like Bush and Cheney. Shame on TMZ; now go report on something substantial and leave us stars alone to walk the red carpet like royalty, wear expensive fashions, eat lunch at the Ivy, drive DUI, break up marriages, abuse substances, and bed hop all over town unhindered.

53. nads? Impressive "nail on the head" commentary..kudos!!! You go around once and to a choose a job where your only goal is to make fun of people and take them down? It IS going to be hard to justify that towards your end...you have my pity. Also, notice how they keep adding story after story when there's a thread that gives TMZ a dose of it's own medicine, ya know trying to "bury" the story...LOL they're too funny & transparent...tools! Could you be any more obvious TMZ? You need to put this thread back on top cuz this is what we really want to talk about...

54. Do I sense that somebody's pride has been damaged here? Come on Harvey, she was totally right on. TMZ's usefulness in the world ranks somewhere above cigarettes and just below anus-bleaching.

55. Well, then, as nads states, why aren't you going after the W5 (who, what, where, when and why) prime news guys and the 'white guys making billions off the war' instead of going after an entertainment editor? That's like trying force a square peg into a round hole, or blaming a hospital social worker because your daughter's IV fell out at the hospital. Harvey runs an ENTERTAINMENT site, folks. ENTERTAINMENT. You have your targets confused. Write your congressmen. Governor. News stations. Senators. Vote. Demonstrate or something. Actors that target Harvey, the entertainment guy, for the ills of the world have an ulterior motive, hehe, and it's 'don't you dare tell the public what I'm up to!' Easy to target the wrong guy than actually go after the scary people.

56. When Michael Moore and the Chicks actually tried, it was as though they were alone on an island. Where were all the big stars then? Hiding, afraid to be Dixie Chicked or McCarthied. Looks like a few are bravely daring to poke their heads out of their holes, now that it's becoming politically more correct...

57. To be honest, it might benefit you to actually post some information beyond celebrity gossip because to be honest, your gossip usually isn't very interesting. I check your site a few times a week hoping that there is something juicy, but its usually about people that NO ONE is interested in. Look at the pathetic feedback... Perez is a douche, but hundreds of people reply to his posts. Its vulgar, but interesting. You might want to look at getting into economic plights around the world. Being more political could give you an edge which you are seriously lacking at this time. Or you need better sources... throw some money at the situation, SOMETHING, I am seriously considering writing this place off. I'm sure I am not alone.
