How the Eff Is a Lamborghini "Green"?

Lamborghini says its new Gallardo is "greener" -- and it gets a whopping 17 miles per gallon. That's like Burger King hawking a "lo-cal" Triple Whopper, or the Pentagon showcasing a "minimally-destructive" atom bomb.

The Italian car-maker just announced the "lighter, faster, and greener" edition of its Gallardo sports car, or so they say: Carbon emissions on the new model have been cut by 18% and the hot rod will go from 14 to 17 miles per gallon. Dude ... that's an SUV.

Keep in mind that the carbon footprint of the new Gallardo is still more than twice that of any normal, non-"green" vehicle. At least the car still goes form zero to 62 MPH in 3.7 seconds. And by green, maybe they mean the price: nearly $200,000.

16. Shut up with all the going green garbage!!!

FACT: If ALL the people in America didn't drive ANY cars for an entire YEAR it wouldn't matter because all that good would be undone by China and India in ONE DAY!!

If we want to do the right thing regarding global warming we need to force the countries that are the real problems to change their energy policies. The US can do all they want but it will never outdo the great pollution and carbon emissions created by these other countries.

The only reason people "go green" is because celebrities tell you to. "Oh, well Adrian Grenier and Sheryl Crow are doing it so it must be real and important!" Come on! You star-struck people are pathetic.

Take the time to learn about the energy policies of this country and others and you will find the true source of global warming.

18. All that carbon-footprint BS can Kiss my @ s $ !!!
The Lamborghini leaves a smaller carbon footprint than your typical Honda Civic.
It's a collectors car so it will likely never see a junk yard or waste yard.
It will see an average of 1500miles per YEAR.
That also equals less consumable wastes like tires and oil changes.
Over that life span is will exhaust less than 1/4 of the Co2 emmisions of practically every LEV car on the road today.

19. So 18% less emissions and 2MPG in added fuel economy isn't greener? My mistake, I thought they sounded like improvements. I might as well put my old furnace back in the house then because it's only 15% more efficient than my old one, thus by your calculations no greener than what I had. What a waste of $5000.

I have two Lamborghinis and couldn't care less what the carbon footprint is. I'm almost certain that it's a fraction of what Al Gore's private jet lays down.

I guess if I were really concerned about it I could always buy carbon credits to negate the horrific effects my 2000 miles/yr is having on the environment, but that would require giving Al Gore even more money since he owns the company that brokers the carbon credit deals.

But hey, if it helps the folks at TMZ sleep better.........
