Confirmed: Patrick Swayze Has Cancer

Patrick SwayzeTMZ has confirmed reports that actor Patrick Swayze is suffering from cancer.

Swayze's publicist issued the following statement to TMZ: "Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment."

The statement continues, "Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."

47. Pray, pray, pray!! I know a man who was diagnosed w/ pancreatic cancer and given 2 months to live. That was 11 years ago and today he runs 5 miles 4 times a week. Reprieves for this type of cancer are few and far between, but they do happen!!

48. everybody that keeps saying "I hope he can beat this" or "get well".... He can't ... pancreatic cancer is terminal, there is no cure! Which makes this all very heartbreaking!

49. So, so sorry to hear about Patrick Swayze. He may not be the "finest" actor around, but he is a true icon of quintessential American film.. He delivered some of the best movie memories of all time.

He has also "behaved" himself through the years and kept a relatively low and respectful profile. Having been married to the same woman for 33 years speaks volumes alone.

I will pray for his good health and recovery...

56. This is heartbreaking! I have always loved Patrick and respected him as one of the "normal" ones in Hollywood. Let's hope he is able to beat this!

57. Oh, gee, this totally sucks. Unfortunately, I believe the reports about him having only weeks to live are correct -- pancreatic cancer is fast. Remember Michael Landon? It's what killed him, too. Patrick Swayze has been a heavy smoker for many years and so was Michael Landon. It's a factor. Gosh, he'll be missed! He's one of the good guys.
