Confirmed: Patrick Swayze Has Cancer

Patrick SwayzeTMZ has confirmed reports that actor Patrick Swayze is suffering from cancer.

Swayze's publicist issued the following statement to TMZ: "Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment."

The statement continues, "Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."

61. PC is very very agggressive with avery poor prognosis ,most don't live past 3-6 months & chemousually makes it worse, My Dad was Diagnosed & we refused chemo & begain IV vitamin C therapy & it has been 1year & his CT Pt showe regression & he looks great, the dRs are amazed

64. Oh, gee, this totally sucks. Unfortunately, I believe the reports about him having only weeks to live are correct -- pancreatic cancer is fast. Remember Michael Landon? It's what killed him, too. Patrick Swayze has been a heavy smoker for many years and so was Michael Landon. It's a factor. Gosh, he'll be missed! He's one of the good guys.

66. So sorry to hear this news. My Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in summer 2004 and had surgery. In April 2008 he will celebrate his 73rd birthday as a relatively fit man.

72. That's a terrible shame, this gorgeous man has entertained a lot of people and landed in many a woman's pleasant dreams. I wish him all the best but I've never heard of anyone recovering from pancreatic cancer. ?? Is it just the odds or are there an awful lot of stars who seem to be diagnosed with cancer? I often wonder if it has something to do with radiation from those huge lights they use sometimes or is it just that out of the millions of people with cancer, some of them are bound to be famous? Either way obviously a lot of people have positive things to say about him.
