Court to Brit's Daddy: Stick Around Pop!

Sources tell TMZ, Britney Spears' conservatorship has been extended through July 31, 2008.
Britney
The order, issued by the court commissioner today, is effectively a seal of approval for Brit's dad, Jamie. Papa Spears has been a co-conservator since Brit's latest breakdown.

Sources say the conservators are open to ending the conservatorship earlier than July 31, if Britney's mental state sufficiently improves and stabilizes.

31. #22 I'm glad to see someone else agrees. But even if the Doc's made their report on Sat. There was no emergency to spend more of her money to race to court 5 days early. The facts could have been given at that time. Why such a long amount of time given? Why not just another 2 week or 30 day's?

33. All this idiot wants to do is destroy her life, so if she is so g-damned determined to do it, LET HER!! Besides, it the only thing she does well right now and she's really entertaining at doing it! They're just delaying the inevitable.

34. Even if the Docs on Sat. Deemed her Crazy as a loon......Why would her "Daddy" spend more of her money on something that would be in court in about 5 day's? Other than to keep her from testifying against the very people she really needs protection from.

36. I've never known of a 26 year old adult (who's also a mother with 2 kids of her own) who had to be babysat 24/7 by a parent. This is a first! Pathetic!! Is she that incompetent?

37. Britney has found a CALLING, by ACCIDENT, and is reciveing a personal benifit from it. And is being PRAISED by CHILDREN, and their parents FOR it, The Best things in life are not planned, they happen by accident, or karma or, Luck, which is preparration meeting oppertunity(sp), this is (her teaching children to dance) is one of the things she will never forget for the rest of her life, especially at this point of time in her life with losing custody of her own children, and may have been a motivating factor in the issue.

38. 18. If Britney can teach children to dance, then she doens't need a conservator. She can handle her own affairs. This extension is outrageous. Does anyone seriously believe that her daddy is going to give up control no matter how well britney is behaving?

You are a total idiot if you think that messing around with kids that aren't even hers for an hour or so makes her a good parent! This is the dumbest thing I have seen on this so far! I hope you never have kids, because you are just too stupid to be left with the responsibility of raising them!

40. This is Awesome because Michael Sands got deposed today by Stacy Phillips and after the judge heard how crazy and evil Micheal Sands and Sam Lutfi's plans were to destroy all of Britney's family apart and insinuating very despicable and evil things about Britney's dad Jamie Spears...The Judge gave Jamie 5 more months to protect Britney from Osama's evil plans.

So Michael Sands HOW THE HE**LL is Britney going to be the STAR witness in Osama's trial next week when she is still in the conservatorship?? YOU FILTHY DIRTY PIGS THAT YOU ALL ARE...Including Eardly!

41. Hey, britaculous, great to see your comments!

If you are confused, let me share my impressions about what happened. The hearing on establishing a permanent conservatorship was scheduled for March 10, as you noted, so that the court would have the benefit of the investigator's report which is required by the California Probate Code. It appears that the report has been filed, and the investigator made a recommendation that a conservatorship is necessary. The investigator also may make recommendations about six other things, such as whether to suspend or allow the conservatee's ability to contract, privilege to drive, right to vote, right to make medical decisions, etc. We don't know at this point what those recommendations are.

Remember, the factors that indicate a person is unable to manage his/her affairs include (1) provide for her personal needs, (2) manage her financial resources, and (3) resist fraud or undue influence. These last two factor s -- inability to manage finances and vulnerability to fraud or undue influence by someone -- seem to have played a large part in Britney's case. The California Court of Appeals in November 2007considered a very similar case coming out of the Los Angeles Superior Court and upheld the counservatorship ordered. In that case, Matter of Belgard, the woman had given a power of attorney to someone effectively giving him complete control over her finances, and he took advantage of it to transfer property and money to himself. Sound familiar?

The entry of the order today suggests to me that Britney waived her right to a hearing. That is, at this time she is not contesting the conservatorship. She probably isn't happy about it, but I suspect that her doctors and attorneys had advised her that she would be fighting a losing battle at this point. Better to focus on her treatment plan and then file a motion in a few months requesting the court to relax the conditions and maybe end the conservatorship early. Thus, today the court could go ahead and, on the basis of the doctors' reports and the investigator's report, make a finding that Britney meets the conditions for establishing a permament conservatorship.

It appears that the psych evaluation was FINALLY completed.
The extended conservatorship was based on that ... not on Jamie's opinion.
Jamie Spears was at the Michael Sands deposition. Don't you remember?

43. WTF....This is crazy and scary stuff. She is well enough to drive and to go out in front of the paps everyday and have a paparazzi boyfriend, but not well enough to spend even one penny of her own money....this makes no sense and is scary. She is clearly not that incompetent and I can't believe this can happen to someone in the USA. I sure hope someone steps in and does something about it.

44. I AGREE,,,,,IT IS A LEAP TO THINK SHE IS READY TO HAVE HER OWN KIDS BACK YET...IT WILL BE MANY MONTHS IF NOT A YEAR OR MORE UNTIL SHE IS READY TO HANDLE "FULL TIME RESPONSIBILITY" OF HERSELF OR HER CHILDREN, SHE HAS TAKEN A "FIRST STEP", AND SHOWING INTENT AND ABILITY, HOWEVER, THAT IS A FAR CRY FROM WHERE SHE NEEDS TO BE. IT WASN'T OVERNIGHT TO WHERE SHE IS NOW, AND IT WILL BE TWICE AS LONG UNTIL SHE IS WHERE SHE NEEDS TO BE.
