Court to Brit's Daddy: Stick Around Pop!

Sources tell TMZ, Britney Spears' conservatorship has been extended through July 31, 2008.
Britney
The order, issued by the court commissioner today, is effectively a seal of approval for Brit's dad, Jamie. Papa Spears has been a co-conservator since Brit's latest breakdown.

Sources say the conservators are open to ending the conservatorship earlier than July 31, if Britney's mental state sufficiently improves and stabilizes.

46. 32. #22 I'm glad to see someone else agrees. But even if the Doc's made their report on Sat. There was no emergency to spend more of her money to race to court 5 days early. The facts could have been given at that time. Why such a long amount of time given? Why not just another 2 week or 30 day's?

33. Even if the Docs on Sat. Deemed her Crazy as a loon......Why would her "Daddy" spend more of her money on something that would be in court in about 5 day's? Other than to keep her from testifying against the very people she really needs protection from.

Confused, I understand your confusion, but there was no "race" to the court today. Daddy Spears didn't spend one dime today. All that happened is that all the reports that the court was waiting to receive have been filed and the court has reviewed them. Apparently Britney waived hearing, so the court had everything it needed to make its findings and render a decision. There is no need for the hearing on the 10th, so that will be, in courtspeak, vacated. Courts don't waste time conducting hearings when there are no contested issues, the docket is simply too full.

49. Hey lawdawg. Where you been hiding.... Yes. The scenario sounds very familiar,,,, No names mentioned as to the fraudster. Interesting to see what they take into account. How do you think it might impact the custody case? I,e, if they come to an agreement can they right conditions in it that come to an end if the conservatorship ends? I assume that any agreement would remain in effect unless one of the parties broke a condition.... I guess this also means that Pops can make sure she cannot testify on the 17th, i.e. if she were subpoenad, they could use the same reasoning as the crim case?

52. lawdawg, I wish that TMZ would add you as an additional filter to explain the minimalist coverage they give to the stories. My expertise is not in legal areas such as this, so an educated voice is appreciated! And where there is a lack of information or understanding, you will find an industry of rumor mills cropping up!

A question for the Sam Lutfi supporters out there.

Why is it important to you to have contact re-established between Britney Spears and Sam Lutfi?

59. Thanks, appreciated. TMZ is always misreading and misinterpreting the meaning of legal things. But of course, they have to make it sensational so idiots like us will visit their site and they can get their advertising $$$$.

britaculous, I haven't been hiding so much as there really hasn't been much that TMZ reported on that was worth blogging about. I get a day of free research each month on Westlaw, so last week I did some gratuitous research on conservatorship law in California. Lots of these cases seem to involve persons diagnosed as bi-polar, and most have refused to take their meds and/or signed over financial control to someone who takes advantage of them. Sad. Anyway, except for a recent posting that looked like you had an imposter, I see that you been the voice of reason. Keep up the good blogs!
