David Archuleta Gets Schooled

David ArchuletaHe may be the one to beat on "American Idol," but David Archuleta still has a lot to learn!

The 17-year-old gets on-set tutoring for three hours a day while on "Idol," but TMZ has obtained the required reading list of lil' David's 11th grade class at Murray High School.

While David has been belting out John Lennon and Phil Collins classics, students at his Utah high school have been trudging through the classics like "Catcher in the Rye," "The Crucible," "The Great Gatsby," "Macbeth," "Much Ado About Nothing," and "Hamlet." Will he win or not win -- that is the question!

19. these books are basically a national reading requirement that all public high school students read. i am currently a junior in a public high school and i read all of those books (minus macbeth) last year and i read macbeth last month. it's basic high school literature.

20. I hope this kid stays humble and normal in the insane world of fame. In reading these posts, I'm disgusted to even think about some of the suggested sexual deviants out there. As much as I am rooting for him deep down, I feel guilty for wishing fame upon anyone that naturally sweet.

21. He is a great singer, but he has a bad habit of licking the corner of his mouth when he sings. He needs to learn how to control his tongue. I love his singing he has a great career ahead of him.

22. David does have a great voice and all - but I just can't get past the COW TONGUE every time he opens his mouth. Is it just me or does this guy need some Blistex so he's not constantly swiping his lips with is BIG A&# TONGUE??????
