Record Execs: Screw the "Idol" Chicks!

TMZ has learned the recording industry has no interest -- at least for now -- in the "American Idol" girls. Their focus is exclusively on two male contestants.
David Archuleta and David Hernandez
Well-connected record industry sources tell TMZ the major publishers (including Sony and Warner) have already set their sights on David Archuleta and David Hernandez. The record publishers have already told their songwriters to write songs specifically for David-squared, whether they win or not.

Sources say this is the earliest publishers have ever committed to the contestants.

17. As most of us know, at least those of us who really enjoy the show for its entertainment value - America votes on who goes forward - not record executives or TPTB - it's us and only us that make the final decisions. So what if the record labels like these two guys - let them write songs for them - it's not going to matter in the end because only we have the power to choose the winner - and the coronation song that the winner sings on stage and later records ALWAYS SUCKS - they're cheesy, adult-contemporary numbers that usually don't fit with the winner - never has before. If you don't like the way that the media plays with your head regarding AI - then don't fall into their trap! Just watch the show, vote or don't vote, and just realize that nothing that comes out before the finale makes any difference...it's just talk.

18. DAVID ARCHULETA SUCKS!!!! HIM AND CHEESY SMILE, ACTING LIKE HE IS SO INNICENT, I CANNOT STAND THAT KID. THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH HYPE GOING ON ABOUT THIS KID. PLEASE LET A REAL SINGER WIN!! LIKE DAVID COOK OR MICHAEL JOHN!!

19. Idol is SUPPOSED to be a search for the best undiscovered talent in America...hence AMERICAN Idol. Am i the only one who has noticed that if you research this years contestants the bulk of them are all seasoned performers??? A few are professional contestants.... going from one show to the next.....several have had record contracts in the past and were dropped (I wonder why...could it be they stink???).....and still others are not even American? Personally I can not stand David Archuletta....the little pork chop is cute enough but I find his continual gasping for air annoying to say the least. It is unfair to all the others that the producers are claiming he is the front runner. Its not even downt o the top 10 yet.....its all BS.

20. JEC, if you knew how to read an article completely you would see that the record industry said they don't care if they when or not! It's known that America gets to choose the winner of AI.

23. Hey, Learn How To Read - why don't you Learn How To Type???? Proofreading is obvioulsy not one of your great skills - and, you missed the point of my comment - but that doesn't surprise me either. My point was more towards those who write idiotic comments because they DON'T know the show - and, that all of these stories don't mean anything and there is no reason to get upset over stupid stories like these.

Now go take a grammar course, and practice, practice, practice

26. Congrats to them! Most of the singers this year are average, but these guys are great. :)

27. I think they there are 4 guys and 1 girl who can make it to the end...

Posted at 2:23PM on Mar 6th 2008 by paupau

28. These 2 guys are the best on American Idol this year, BUT.......fabulous singers are a dime a dozen, just like pretty girls.

29. WHO CARES: It's top 12, not top 10. Maybe comments shouldn't be made until you know what you're talking about. Also, if you are born in America, you're American. And even for those who weren't born here, their lives are here and there is no requirement at AI other than age (16-28 - at the time of the auditions) - so what's the big deal. And AGAIN this is not the first time that there have been contestants that had previous recording deals - THEY DON'T HAVE ONE NOW WHICH IS ALL THAT MATTERS.

It seems pretty apparent from some of these comments that you are not truly AI fans, you probably never vote, so why bother the rest of us with you insipid comments.

30. Although I couldn't have disagreed more with the winner, season 5 was the best. It's allllll been downhill from there. Last season was awful. I couldn't finish watching it. Now this season is shaping up to be the same way. I stopped watching during the Hollywood week.
