"Idol" Rehearsals: No TMZ Allowed!

"American Idol" was supposed to have a rehearsal before last night's show -- but we're told they canceled it at the last minute because of fears it would get leaked online. You mean like this?
American Idol
TMZ spies overheard crew members on the lot who were quite upset they showed up to work a rehearsal performance that never happened. The crew griped to one another that the rehearsal was canceled because of the fear of secrets getting out.

Audience members were told that the rehearsal was nixed because Blake Lewis could only do his performance live -- but it ended up being pre-taped before the live feed anyway. In fact, we're told they almost had to do a second Blake performance because the crowd reaction wasn't so hot. His prognostication skills weren't so hot either: He told the judges before the show he thought Chikezie was going to be voted off.

32. I love Blake Lewis's song...its about breaking up..its not suppose to about blasting one's tonsils out...it was smooth and heartfelt...Did any of the other AI winners or runner ups WRITE their album..he penned 12 of 13.. he has talent..AND I ENJOYED THIS PERFORMANCE! I don't need to hear a loud sceamer. I can go the NY to a Broadway show for that! Blake was good!

33. I can't believe this show is still on the air, and that it gets talked about on national news and local news. Someone is getting paid big to do this. This show is not "news"...it's goofy, dumb and a total waste of time.

35. I thought Blake's performance was about a B -- but I have his CD and the song sounds GREAT on the CD. It's a bit harder to do it live, after being away from the show and the judges and working with that band, which isn't nearly as good as Ricky Minor and the group from the show. I think Blake was a bit nervous and he added some extra beat boxing into the song that isn't in the oritginal. He also co wrote the song, by the way. It is really one of the BEST songs on the CD, and the CD is excellent. Blake can sing, produce, arrange, dance and beatbox and I'm SICK of people bashing him. Not everyone is a cookie cutter perfection doll like Carrie Underwood who was 100 percent ready to be a star. Some have to get a bit of experience performing live, with a GOOD BAND and the overdubs done well enough that a live performance can all be in sync. I LOVE Blake and will keep routing for him. There are many songs, especially hip hop, on the radio, where the songs and voices aren't nearly as good as Blake's. Give the CD a try for the real deal, and give him a break for not being perfect. He is amazingly talented and no one can take that away from him. I AM TIRED OF THE BLAKE BASHING!!!!

36. Right on Janna! I'm right with you. It's a great song, a song about breaking up (not so great to do lol) and done so very creatively, cowritten by Blake. He is so DAM_ talented, he has got to catch on! There are so many potential hits on Audio Daydream and the songs are very catchy, creative and by no means simple. Blake looks better than ever with his new haircut and he looked snazzy last night. I COULD NOT WAIT to see him on Idol. He needs more promotion and I feel he needs to separate the beat boxing hip hop songs from the ballads -- so he can have 2 genres he can succeed in. The ballads on the CD are potential hits and don't need much beat boxing, but songs like Whatca Got to Lose are so fun and done so well, he can go all out on the beatboxing. I've given his CD to a number of people as gifts and I encourage those of you who like him to buy it and give them out as well. You are missing a great CD if you don't hear it. It's also great to work out to - I lost 10 lbs. in the last few weeks lol. Blake, keep going, get the live performance thing down to perfection and PLEASE come out and tour - and bring a friend or two. You are appreciated for your gift - keep perfecting it and be happy. The business can suck at times but you are gifted and if you keep the right attitude and working on your craft you will be at the top - WHERE YOU BELONG.
