Horton Hears an Abortion Protest

3/8/2008 10:22 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

All hell broke loose at the Hollywood premiere of "Horton Hears a Who!" today when a group of pro-lifers infiltrated the screening, then chanted anti-abortion slogans after the flick.

The theme of the movie is based on the motto: "After all, a person is a person, no matter how small." So the pro-lifers thought it was a good idea to use this theme to their advantage -- even though their complicated message was falling mostly on the ears of children.

The stars in attendance included Victoria Beckham and her three kids, Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, Steve Carell and all 12 contestants from "American Idol."

After the chanting ended, the group put red tape over their mouths that said "Life" on them, and paraded around the event.

Shouts of protest were returned by some in attendance, including, "This is a kid's premiere," "How dare you," and "Do you really care that much about this?"

Kya's gram, it's wonderful that you have a little granddaughter to love, but a woman who gets pregnant by accident is NOT OBLIGATED TO GROW INFERTILE COUPLES A BABY!!! Just because we can get pregnant, doesn't mean we have some sort of moral imperative to act as baby provider. And the movie has nothing to do with the abortion issue. It wasn't even a topic of discussion when the book was written, and Seuss threatened to sue a pro choice organization that used the phrase as it's slogan on it's stationary.

Oops, I meant a PRO LIFE organization, not a pro choice organization. That wouldn't have made any sense at all lol.

I had 3 abortions, & they were all the right decision fo rme. The one child I gave birth to I gave up for adoption so I think I did the right thing. Abortion really serves a purpose when you're not ready to have children. My Church says birth control is wrong, so I don't do it.

If the actors felt that way, then maybe they should NOT have made the movie!!! If they morally feel abortion is wrong, then don't take th multi millions in fees paid to them for their parts.....

Love it. God is pleased. And may God show his mercy on those who don't please him.

Religious zealots. that's the trouble with the world today. Everybody needs to keep their noses out of everyone else's uterus'. Period.

Great way to get your point across, discussing abortions with 5 year olds. F****** twits.

Maybe the solution [if you call it that] is to have alllll children surgically 'altered' at 3yrs old, then, 'unaltered' when they are ready to have kids.

The better comeback to the protesters would have been to ask them how many children they personally have adopted, and then ask them how many minority children they've adopted?

i think the slogan was a good way for pro-lifers to get a word across, but they definately should not have done it where they did
