Britney's About to "Meet My Mother"

TMZ has learned that Britney Spears is prepping for a small guest part on CBS's hit "How I Met Your Mother."

Our sources tell us that Brit's agent Jason Trawick from William Morris made the deal with producers on the show. One source called it "a small legitimate project that will keep her busy doing something." We're told it's not long term and her dad -- her conservator -- is down with it and has signed off.

Pink is the New Blog, who first reported the story, says Brit Brit is scheduled to appear on an upcoming episode. TMZ caught her arriving at the FOX lot.

"How I Met Your Mother" is a CBS show produced by FOX. The show is "on the bubble" a biz term for getting 86'd and producers think this is just the gimmick they need.

A source on the show tells TMZ the critical darling is not about to be canceled and is returning to the air next Monday.

47. I can not understand why people are still being so cruel to Britney, SHE HAS AN ILLNESS people (as what has been reported). Would you say these horrible things about people with M.S. or cancer? Would you be leaving these horrible things about Patrick Sawazie? From what is being reported Britney has a menatl illness, it is not that she is just being a spoiled brat she is sick and she deservees the compassion that you would show anyone else that is sick. Part of this illness is PROBABLY exhaustion, she is probably exhaused carrying everyone to a totally new tax bracket, her Dad the attorneys, K-Fed. Of course her Dad is going to OK the TV show he needs her to continue paying his bills. A parent should not accept money for being a parent and taking care of their children, no matter the age. The night Britney was held up in her bathroom with her child was her trying to hang onto the last person that wasn't out to take from her the person that loved her for her and not her money and she knew people were trying to take the babies too, for more money probably well as we all see. She was also, from what we are being told, drugged, so how can people blame her for that as well. I feel very sorry for Britney, this is not her fault. We hve to stop blaming her we don't blame Patrik Sawazie for having cancer or others for their illnesses ,how can you blame her for her mental illness?

48. Saw Britney on an old episode of Saturday Night Live recently. Must've been 4 years old or more? Anyway, she was FUNNY. She played a tough ex-Disney kid who had written a book about her (four day) experiences with Disney. FUNNY. Other comedy stuff, too. She really handled the humor well.

So yeah, she'll be good on this show.

50. You know it's sad the poor girl is dammed if she does ,and dammed if she doesn't !I sure hope someday she gets it right ,and all the haters move on to someone else !I don't exactly like her but damn cant someone show some love for her ?

51. I saw Brit on an ep of "Will and Grace" and she was really good..better than other guest stars like Demi Moore and Madonna..I think the girl could have her own sitcom with someone like Danny Noriega from Idol..

52. It certainly troubles me, but doesn't surprise me at all. I always thought dad was in it for the money. How can he possibly sign a contract on behalf of a "gravely disabled" person to appear on a tv show. Seems getting her better and getting her kids back was not what dad had in mind...he is only after another free ride from his daughter. He ought to be ashamed of himself.

58. Some people put her down when she went through her "crazy" spot, and now they are putting her down for moving on. Too much time on their hands!

Good for her that she's moving on and working. At least she's doing what makes her happy. Roll on the next video as weel, which her site says is break the ice!

60. #55 She was great on Will and Grace..that episode was right up there with a few other greats like the Michael Douglas and Kevin Bacon stalker episodes..Brit did a real good job..
