Britney's About to "Meet My Mother"

TMZ has learned that Britney Spears is prepping for a small guest part on CBS's hit "How I Met Your Mother."

Our sources tell us that Brit's agent Jason Trawick from William Morris made the deal with producers on the show. One source called it "a small legitimate project that will keep her busy doing something." We're told it's not long term and her dad -- her conservator -- is down with it and has signed off.

Pink is the New Blog, who first reported the story, says Brit Brit is scheduled to appear on an upcoming episode. TMZ caught her arriving at the FOX lot.

"How I Met Your Mother" is a CBS show produced by FOX. The show is "on the bubble" a biz term for getting 86'd and producers think this is just the gimmick they need.

A source on the show tells TMZ the critical darling is not about to be canceled and is returning to the air next Monday.

66. I think it's great she's being given a chance to act. "How I Met Your Mother" is a very funny show, and a great vehicle for her to do a guest spot.

I don't understand all you haters, either. There are so few people on here who give her their support, and then they get torn down for doing so. How can you despise someone you don't know personally, have never met, and will never get the opportunity to meet? I saw a sweet video of her from before she got sick and I'd truly forgotten what a beautiful and talented young woman she is.

69. Oh Sweet sweet (gag!)Britney, continue giving her our support--for all the crouch shots! Support her in her moment of need as she puplicly picks selfish endeavors over her two babies. Support her as she ;without notice decides to take off her clothes and jump into the ocean...for the men with cameras...and on and on.
I would continue to denouce this trashy slut. And my support goes to mentoring young women who haven't been ruined by this bad bad example of pop culture. And who deserve my support.

75. Reports today are that Brit will be playing the part of a secretary/assistant to a dermatologist that Ted is pursuing. I got a laugh from the following post on another site:

"In the first scene "The Boss" asks "The Secretary" to get her a cup of coffee. Six hours later, "The Secretary" returns from Starbucks with a lukewarm latte, several empty Taco Bell containers, three new dents in her car, a tiny chihuahua, four new lawyers, two pink wigs and a parade of snappers in tow...
