"American Idol" has been trying to smoke out TMZ's mole within their ranks like mad -- but Paula Abdul apparently isn't part of the lead search party.
In fact, at David Letterman's show, oddly out of the loop in all things "Idol" -- she says she hasn't even seen the new stage set, which TMZ got a sneak peek at earlier today.

14. Paula is a pill-popping, alcohol addicted loser. She goes on air every Idol taping, drunk, slurring her words and making a total ass of herself. She should be fired and replaced with someone who has self-respect, respect for the job and respect for the public who has to watch. She has no respect! For herself, the show, or the public. She's a mess and she needs to be fired. Rehab won't even help someone like her who lives to abuse substances.
