51. Just because the definition applies, doesn't make it right to use the word. I'm a single mother also and find it extremely offensive if someone were to call my son a bastard child.

There are plenty of racial words that have definitions, but I wouldn't be slinging those around either.

53. For those offended by the use of the word 'bastard' - look it up! It is what it is . Society has turned the word into what you all THINK it means today (and most think its a 'sorry' man). This world is FULL of bastard children - not thier fault - just fact!

59. No one is debating what the word means. It's still offensive. I would probably punch someone in the face if they called my child a bastard. It's rude as hell.

You know the word N*#$er has a definition in the dictionary too, but it's also highly offensive and shouldn't be used.
