Mary Ann -- More Like Mary Jane!!

Dawn Wells, the actress that played Mary Ann on "Gilligan's Island," was busted with marijuana in her car after driving home from her birthday party in Idaho -- and she's 69!

Wells was pulled over on October 18 after a Teton County sheriff noticed her swerve across the center lines of State Highway 33 and repeatedly speeding up and slowing down. A search produced four half-smoked joints and two small cases to store marijuana -- which she blamed on hitchhikers. Even Gilligan wouldn't buy that one!

Wells is now serving ~~a three hour tour~~ six months of unsupervised probation for the crime. She pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving and was sentenced last month to five days in jail, fined $410.50 and placed on probation.

184. A lawyer for DAWN WELLS -- the wholesome Mary Ann on '60s sitcom "Gilligan's Island" -- has released a statement on Wells' behalf describing the chain of events that lead to the 69-year-old actress's marijuana and DUI-related arrest in Idaho last October.

"This is a very humiliating and embarrassing event for Ms. Wells," attorney RON SWAFFORD said in the statement. "She wishes to apologize to her friends and supporters for any embarrassment or disappointment this occurrence may have caused."

According to Swafford, on the day of Wells' arrest, a third party borrowed her car for the day and left a small amount of marijuana in it, unbeknownst to her. That night Dawn attended a surprise birthday party thrown for her and had "two drinks in a three to four hour period" -- an amount later verified by a number of others present, according to Swafford. Swafford then alleges that while driving home, the actress "weaved while reaching for her heater controls in an unfamiliar new car" and was thus pulled over by an officer.

As we previously reported, the marijuana charges were later dismissed -- not as a result of a plea bargain, but rather because the third party appeared before the Court and claimed full responsibility for the pot being in the car. The 69-year-old did plead guilty to reckless driving and was fined and given six months probation.

195. Randolph, you are the reason I left a comment. So many people smoke bud, especially in california, and they live normal lives with jobs and families. They are productive membrs of society and guess what, the majority of them are not violent, don't get belligerent, and are creative good people. You need to take your backwards Reagan-like paranoia to Russia or Arizona, where a joint can get you imprioned, you'd fit in. And tell everyone there that I just smoked a fat blunt with Mary Ann, live a little. And, booze is the real killer, of families, soul, and relationships. HOwever, its ok in moderation
