Britney Green Lit By TV Cast; Shunned by Alicia

Sources connected to the TV show "How I Met Your Mother" tell TMZ the cast members were told Britney wouldn't be on the show unless they said it was ok. They met with her and they liked her -- they really, really liked her!

We're told the entire group of actors approved Brit. She was, as one of them put it, "laid back and collected."

We're told Brit will play the receptionist for Ted, Josh Radner's character. But that wasn't the original plan. Alicia Silverstone was supposed to go on the show and Britney was then asked to play her receptionist, but Alicia didn't want to be upstaged and refused to play ball. Unclear if Alicia has backed out altogether.

61. Good for you Alicia!!! Your reluctance makes a good point that too many are afraid to bring up..... There are so many hard working actrors trying to make a living who deserve the work. Why give it to some talent-less, skank just to boost ratings by taking advantage of her notoriety? She's being treated with kid gloves when she she'd be better handled with a straight jacket!! She had her shot and effed it up royally. I wish she'd just disappear, go back to Louisiana or just croak already!

62. I never watched the show before and will be SURE not to now! She is no actor (nor singer or dancer, for that matter) and I'm sick of people bending over backwards for her. She'lll never learn to take responsibility for her actions, nor will she ever grow up, as long as peole keep kissing her butt and treating her like some little poor little princess.

64. She should make a great appearance on the show. Afterall, she won't have to try to dance or sing and they can do all the takes she needs to get it right! I'm just glad the part doesn't call for her to dress like a stripper.

68. Alicia Silverstone didn't have the stones to deliver a professional performance next to Brit Brat and she couldn't control herself on "The View". The real Alicia showed herself that day.She is so insecure and very immmature. Sarah Chalke can hold her own against Brit Brat anytime, anyplace or anywhere. Sarah Chalke will show Bratty Britty how it's done.

70. Britney Spears has already earned rave reviews from her How I Met Your Mother castmates. Now the pop star is sharing the love.

"Working at How I Met Your Mother has been so terrific," Spears says. "Everyone, including the cast, the crew and the producers, has been wonderful and Abby is such a fun girl to play. I'm having a blast!"

The singer, who arrived on set promptly at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, is expected to continue shooting on Thursday afternoon following a visit with her sons. "The filming schedule was worked out so that she could still keep her visitation with her two boys," a source tells PEOPLE. "That was very important."

Apart from her assistant, Brett, the singer was joined on set Wednesday by her father, Jamie, and mother, Lynne. "Her parents kept thanking everyone onset ... saying this is just what their daughter needed," the source says.

Plus, Spears was quite prepared for her role. While castmember Josh Radnor joked that the singer "knew her lines better than I knew mine," a show source confirms that the singer was "very sweet and cute and she chewed gum obsessively on set."

If all goes well, could this be a continuing role? Says the show source: "She had a lot of fun doing it and she even mentioned extending her character. Who knows? She got along really well with everyone."

Spears' guest turn on How I Met Your Mother is scheduled to air March 24.

71. I keep waiting for the producers, etc. to wake up....... or do they think that people will watch just to see the skanky wreck and have more to make fun of when it comes to her?

Please. The show is good and entertaining........ try to keep it that way, guys. Britney Spears appearing on it??? Night to not watch a show always watched at our house. Trust me.... new low and we will not be watching.

73. Definitely a scheme to try and boost ratings. They've sandwiched the show between that geek show and 2-1/2 men hoping people are too lazy to change channels and thus increase the shows viewers. By the way, their is no actual "acting" in that show. It is just a stream of one-liners, usually old, stale sexual innuendos with no surprises and the cast is a weird collection of has-beens that don't even really fit together very well. Britney should do ok because it is not a demanding role, much like her part in that movie she did. (How come her fans never mention the name of that movie? Crossroads. Crossroads.) Why would Alicia want to associate herself with anything Britney does? Alicia actually looks more like Britney's sister than a mother and has several less chins. If Alicia's doing a guest appearance for her own publicity Britney would just take away from that. Not because Britney is great at anything but because everyone fawns all over her despite the despicable person she has grown to be. I'm guessing most of you didn't catch the sarcasm in the statement about how they are looking forward to working with a new and refreshing actress? Wouldn't surprise me if her skit involved several blacked-out crotch shots.

74. Alicia silverstone is a has-been. and whats's the deal with her mouth? to me , the way her mouth is lopsided, it always looked like she had a stroke.....as for britney, at least she's not sitting in the back of an ambulance, because she can't cope. hopefully, this girl will get back on track
