Mel Befriends Britney

TMZ has learned Mel Gibson and his family have very privately befriended Britney Spears to help her through her troubles.

The two were at Romanov Restaurant and Lounge in L.A. last night and according to one report they broke bread together. Our sources say Gibson, his wife Robin and their kids reached out to Britney during her darkest days and began seeing her.

We're told Mel and Robin feel like they know how tough it is to live in a fishbowl and they think they can help the Britster. There have been private dinners in which Mel, Robin and their brood have hooked up with Brit to give her support.

At Romanov's last night, Mel and Brit did not walk in or out together. Looks like Mr. Mel, unlike lots of other celebs, isn't into splashing his good deeds in the media. Nice.

91. Mel had a orthodox rabbi working on THE PASSION, so the
anti-semiticism charges ring false. The one who said she has a friend
who knows Mel had a girlfriend when another film was being produced,
there can be no proof from anonymous sources. That is as reliable as
the emails about Barack Obama, which are patently false.
Incidentally, Martin Luther, the leader of the reformation, had a
mistress. C.S. Lewis, the famous Christian writer and apologist,
smoked and drank(we're not talking about grape juice, tea and
coffee). Be careful how you pass judgment on other people.

The anti-semitic charges ring false, get your head out of your a##, I mean I can understand that you are a Gibson fan, and I can even understand that you may be anti-semitic, but for you to try to say that Gibson is not an anti-semite is about the stupidist thing I have heard in years. Simply, go to YouTube and you can see Mel Gibson in his glory ranting about Jewish conspiracy, Zionist plots, and his deep seeded hatred of Jewish people. And so, I would say to you, perhaps you should get off the TMZ website, pick up a book and read. Gibson had a rabbi on set because the entire movie was to be authentic and filmed in the Aramaic language, Mel can barely speak english. And, employing someone is hardely a testatment to one's lack of prejudice, David Duke has a African American gardner, and Senator Jessie Helms had a Jewish secretary - and those two fellows certainly do not like Africans or Jews.

Now, remember what I said, a mind, even one as small as yours, is a terrible thing to waste, so turn off the computer, get yourself out of the chair, pick up a book and start reading - and I do not mean comic book.

You know what..You know what...I just heard that Mel and his wife had Brittney dress up like a rabbi and then had a three some while the kids watched...God that Mel is SO HOT, Brittney is such a skank. I hope Mel took the kids to church right after, he is like that though really relgious and kind.

99. Regardless of whether he is an alcoholic or not, regardless of whether he is a philanderer or not, if Mel Gibson is sincerely trying to help Brit the skank, what is wrong with that? One thing is for damn sure: he is the only person around her NOT after her money, since he has more than enough of his own. That's got to be a novelty.

103. I wish people that don't like Britney would just say nothing. She need good healthy support not negativity. I wish that I could give her a big hug, and encourage her that this is just a season that will not last forever. Remember you can't help someone who doesn't want help, or who isn't ready to change first.
So don't get discouraged.
Mel and Denzel are two in Hollywood who know what giving a helping hand and charity are.

But it is good to see that unlike many in Hollyweird (Dr. Phil, Sean Penn, Angelina, Brad Pitt, George Clooney), you can actually do something nice, and it doesn't have to be a photo op
