Mel Befriends Britney

TMZ has learned Mel Gibson and his family have very privately befriended Britney Spears to help her through her troubles.

The two were at Romanov Restaurant and Lounge in L.A. last night and according to one report they broke bread together. Our sources say Gibson, his wife Robin and their kids reached out to Britney during her darkest days and began seeing her.

We're told Mel and Robin feel like they know how tough it is to live in a fishbowl and they think they can help the Britster. There have been private dinners in which Mel, Robin and their brood have hooked up with Brit to give her support.

At Romanov's last night, Mel and Brit did not walk in or out together. Looks like Mr. Mel, unlike lots of other celebs, isn't into splashing his good deeds in the media. Nice.

Mel owed three homes in Malibu. He had fourth that he purchase a few years ago. That's the one he recently sold.

He has refused her DNA and now he reaches out to Britney Spears?!?! What in the name of God is he thinking?

130. FYI: JESUS was a JEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupids I think that it's wonderful that Mel and wife are stepping in to help Brit. Everyone falls short of glory once in a while a could always use a helping hand. Now I wish some of these other celebs would get
off their high house and lend a caring and helping hand.

131. "The Passion" was NOT anti-Semitic. It was history. Jews were portrayed well in the film. Simon and Mary were protagonists. The Romans were portrayed horribly.
I don't think Mel was anti-Semitic at first. However, with all the unjustified hell he had to endure from Jewish groups because of his film, anger erupted from him. Anger of the unjustly accused that he kept under wraps until that fateful night.
The day after 9/11, Netanyahu said "This is very good for Israel."
So is Netanyahu anti-American ?
