ABBA Drummer Found Dead

Swedish super-band ABBA's long-time drummer Ola Brunkert was found dead in his Mallorca, Spain home over the weekend.

Spanish police say the gruesome death was caused by a freak accident in which Brunkert bled to death after puncturing his throat with a broken piece of glass. According to CNN, police believe the drummer may have fallen against a glass partition that separated his kitchen from his garden, causing the glass to break and fatally cut his throat.

Brunkert was not one of the four "famous" members of ABBA, but was a studio drummer who played on all their albums.

20. I grew up listening to ABBA and still love their music today. They made some really beautiful melodies and were very influential. God Bless him and may he rest in peace and know that his beautiful gift of music was greatly appreciated by many around the world.

22. It really is so sad. The ABBAs are after the Bee Gees, Europe's finest music band from the 70s. My boss who is Belgian (well sort of) swears by them. It's really starting to freak out us out here. We were planning a story in the West Coast Midnight Run on retro music including the ABBAs. We seem to be running out of material for interviews. First it was Heath Ledger then this happens. The other day I starting reading this Agatha Christie novel, "Murder is Easy, where people in a small English town start dropping dead like flies. One the characters in the novel is poisoned and it looks like an accident. Another falls through a glass window and slices his neck bleeding to death in the garden. Not sure what to make of all of this but all bad humor aside, I really feel bad for having lost a member of a band whose ballads were always a pick-me-up when in a somber mood. All I can say is if you will join me in saying a prayer for his loved ones.

23. I'm a drummer and can tell you Ola Brunkert was a great drummer. The way he plays on "What's the name of the game" is very special and very Steve Gadd like. Way behind the beat and very much in the pocket. That's a very difficult thing to do especially in the studio. A great loss to the music/drum community.

My prayers go out to him and his family.........
