Is Amy Winehouse really suffering from impetigo? We talked to several board-certified dermatologists for the lowdown.
One doctor said Winehouse might be suffering from MRSA, a dangerous staph bacteria that's resistant to antibiotics.
Another doctor said the problem in figuring it out from the picture is that Amy has so much makeup on, it's hard to see the exact nature of the skin condition.
And still another doc said he didn't think the condition is caused from drug use (not that Amy uses drugs), because the lesions were not oval-shaped, which is a marker. But the plot thickens ... yet another doc said if she picked at the sores, that could change their shape. Dinner, anyone?
BTW, one of the docs -- famed Bev Hills skin doc Arnie Klein -- said, "Amy Winehouse should not be coming into close contact with other people while she has open sores." You'd have to be crazy to do that. Then again, Amy's friends are ...

She needs to be scrubbed down, with plenty of hot soap and water, and taught how to perform basic hygiene. Obviously, she's filthy. Whatever "skin condition" she has, it probably is being made worse by the fact she looks like she never bathes.

Meth mouth and bad skin has always plagued Amy. Look at pics from 2003, really bad acne. I love her music, it's so retro. She, thank god, doesn't sound like the other crap that's out there today. I just hope she's around long enough to reach her full potential, and not self destruct.
It looks to me like Amy Winehouse has Cat-Scratch Fever-- and not the Ted Nugent kind. The picture of her on the day she moved out of her flat showed her with long scratches on her arm, like she tangeled with an angry feline. Cat scratches can give you a bacterial infection that leads to pronounced swelling of the lymph nodes (see the next pic of her with chipmunk cheeks--the lymph nodes below the jaw can get huge). Impetigo, another bacterial infection, BTW is easily contracted after suffering a cut or scratch. The lesions tend to cluster on the face and around the nose/mouth. I'm no doctor, but damn!

you guys are so narrow minded and are all talking without seeing what her situation is clearly. Maybe all of you should check why people of all ages and all [social] classes are abusing illegal and controlled substances, for example the Fiat heir (ferrarri, etc). It seems that these comments lack seriousness and educated people's comments.
Hard to believe, but she has become even more disgusting. The only word for her is grotesque.
@#120, I say, bravo. Your post is amongst the most objective, sensible and sane. When I first saw that picture of Winehouse, my heart melted. That 'impetigo' is public-relations-ese for Winehouse's drug-induced skin affliction. I do not agree with a lot of the posts, some are quite shocking, and ignorant. But, walking out in public looking like that is going to generate comment, some very unkind. Yup, I've even made my share of putdowns, only to express my ennui at a talent so hell-bent on destroying herself.
Amy Winehouse and her people have to stop acting like the public is stupid. Too many people are well aware of drugs and the problems they cause. Also, her fans have to stop making excuses and criticizing those that 'make fun' of Winehouse. They are like girlfriends defending a boyfriend that laughs at them and disappoints them each and every time. It's up to Amy Winehouse to stop fooling herself and get the help she so richly deserves.
Ewww, gross. She needs to stay away from the cameras until that's cleared up.
