"Bachelor" On Hunt For Human Remains

Former "Bachelor" bachelor Andy Baldwin just got back from the island of Palau in the South Pacific -- not on vacation, on a mission with the Navy. Now let's talk about why we the taxpayers are footing the bill on such BS.

Baldwin was among 20 military types who were on a search mission in the middle of the ocean. What, you ask, were they looking for? A B-24J bomber that went down during the war. Not Iraq. Not Vietnam. No, not Korea. We're talking WWII, as in more than 60 years ago.

Turns out, the military spends $52 million each year to find the remains of missing soldiers -- it's part of the POW/MIA program. That's all well and good depending on the circumstances. But a crash that is ancient history, at a time when the economy sucks and the Federal government is sucking the life out of everyone with taxes??

Baldwin, a Navy medic and diver, and crew found what could be human remains. We're told it's all being tested in the lab and it could take months, even years, to determine identities. At least he got a really good tan.

32. How dare you consider the recovery of lost airplanes and bodies frivoulous. Grow up. Besides the obvious show of respect for both families of the lost and the governement think about the environment. Yes the government wastes money but I would never consider this a waste. You, however are.

33. Who cares about the freaking past. Those people are dead..Looooong gone and we are wasting money on them in the now...WTF The army, navy etc etc are are fools anyways. Fighting for things they dont even know about. Why do you think the army recruits in poor areas..They do it because poor people are easy to brainwash because they dont have any other options.

Eff all you military losers. There is no honor in fighting for an abstract ideal. There is only one truth and that is love.

34. Who the hell do you think gave their lives for the right of this site to even exist. My Lord!!! Some people should get their heads out of their asses and realize what is right and proper in this world. These aren't just bones. They're AMERICAN SOLDIERS!!! I'm seriously offended in TMZ's "outrage" of this.

Just remember when you're chasing Lohan or Paris around Beverly Hills, who protected that precious right...and died so you can do it.

35. As one who has relatives that were and are still lost in WWII all I have to say is shame on TMZ. No expense should be spared to bring or fighting people man or woman home. These are our true Hero's. Not some punk from an ivy league school who knows how to use a calculator.

36. I agree TMZ after 60 years, give me a break, and the families of the MIA are probably dead or long since moved on since hanging on for 60 years to the hope of burying your son would put you in the grave from stress, People do move on and let the grief process take its course.

37. Who the hell do you think you are? You are a freaking gossip mag with zero substance. You write stories about Paris Hilton's dog and Britney's hair. What gives you the right to even think about writing something like this? Next time you even think about publishing something like this send it to your congressmen.

38. I was not in the military but I lived in that environment for 18 years while my dad served in the U.S. Navy. The men and women of this country who choose to go into the military are doing something that other do not want to do. And while we are cozying up under the covers each night with clean sheets, soft pillow and nice mattresses, military personnel all over the world are layinig their lives on the line day and night. Some live, some die. I am thankful that my dad, who did 3 tours in Viet Nam and was gone a lot on other assignments, lived to come home. Many of my friend's dads did not come home. The money spent on this and other projects is well spent. Thanks for this one Uncle Sam.

39. Well, Harvey. People are learning that you are a liberal Jew. Most Jews are liberal. You just found out that not everyone is a lib. Please don't class me as uneducated. I have more schooling than you. I have two advanced degrees (one a JD like you). And, here's another shocker, I support Israel. Good Christians do.

You're wealthy because you live in a free country. That missing soldier gave his life for YOUR freedom and secure life.

40. To the moron who wrote this story, if you wish to launch an attack on the young Lieutenant, then do so on some point of substance or humour that is befiting a proper frame of reference. But, this is not the Bill Clinton or George Bush draft dodger, moral compass of convenience nation any longer, those men and women that die in service to this nation for border line minimum wage, no long-term health care benefits,or any other consideration - should atleast have the cold comfort of knowing that this nation will never rest until they are afforded a proper burial in America for their family.

Now go f@#* yourself because 10 more real Americans died in Iraq and Afghanistan today.

41. I'm sure that if some reality-tv celebrity were buried out in the middle of the ocean TMZ would spend tons of money just take some video of the corpse. You idiots at TMZ who make you're living out of doing absolutely nothing worthwhile need to keep your opinions about the US Military to yourselves.

42. Navy Brat...you are so far off it's not even funny, but you can keep thinking whatever you want.

EFF...you have zero idea what you are talking about. The best and brightest who happen to have a sense of duty make up the military, not a bunch of brainwashed poor like you seem to think.

People like you two make me worry...we better hope you are a minority, otherwise we're doomed.

43. Who is Andy?

ABC The Bachelor called him "An Officer and a Gentleman".

He is not! He disgraced the uniform by going on that ridiculous show.

Finally, he is doing something worthwhile. I hope he can recover those sacred bones.

And, NO, I don't have anyone in the military nor have I lost anyone. It's just common sense .

44. shame on U TMZ! SO WRONG. have some respect.

Posted at 7:15PM on Mar 20th 2008 by b-right-on

45. You keep reporting on the antics of those hollywood drop-outs...and let the Military take care of its own! We have always been a family..a close family...and we do not leave our dead behind if we can find them. You ought to be ashamed...but, then Socialism does not harbor any good feelings about anything but the dregs ....
