Brad and Angie: Globalicious

BrangelinaWe can now put a number on exactly how much better Brad Pitt and Angelina are than the rest of us -- $8 million.

That's how much the do-gooding twosome donated to charity in 2006, according to their tax records. Through their foundation alone, they gave $2.4 mil away -- including a cool million to Doctors Without Borders and the Global AIDS Alliance.

Jolie, who played the wife of slain journalist Daniel Pearl in a film last year, gave $100,000 to a foundation in his honor. The movie itself only made $9 mil.

31. In terms of Pitt's work in Louisiana, Jolie's costar in the movie Wanted, Morgan Freeman, told PEOPLE Thursday at the Pathfinders to Peace Forum and Gala, "We were in contact with Brad about the situation in New Orleans" – and he called Jolie "such a wonderful woman."

Said Freeman: "Aside from all that physical beauty, she's a real person."

32. 25. Oh please, they take YOUR money and donate it and then you're impressed?

Finally, somebody got the punch line. The money they donated came from their foundation, that they've collected from others.

Now, I want an accout for the other money in the foundation. What are they going to do with it and will they also somehow leak it to the media?

33. A lot of people give money to charity but don't brag about it. If they didn't use their contributions to self-promote it would mean more.

34. Wow. 8 million is a huge figure. Kudos to them for being so generous in helping others. Just think of how much better this world could be if all people with that sort of wealth were just as generous.

On another note, I am still not a Brangelina fan. I admire their dedication and generosity, but I still think they are adulterous liars, and all the money in the world will never change that.

35. Word has it that Brad Pitt wanted to spend the second half of his life working on important causes like AIDS, global warming and ending poverty. He knew his celebrity is a gift and he was determined to put it to good use. Jennifer Aniston wanted nothing to do with this life -- preferring to lay on her ass in Malibu, shop for $1,000 shoes and do the occasional movie to help put money in her bank account so she could shop. Brad Pitt soon realized he was married to a vapid, shallow bitch and he dumped her for a partner who shared his world view and values. Who can blame him?

37. I don't know why, but I really have grown to like this couple. I know everybody throws up their past, but they've done so much good it's hard to look back. I'm not perfect, and I am sure not going to judge them. They're really making a difference in other people's lives, especially their children. I like them, but I wish they would marry.

Posted at 12:29PM on Mar 22nd 2008 by I love TMZ!

38. Oh please, most Americans are adulterous liars. Even if their relationship was a means to an end (Brad + Jennifer) it's obvious it was meant to be this way. And a shame to the American family? Lets see -- marriage is just a legality and it fails to keep many families together. Marriage is far overrated and this is coming from someone very happily married.

I think they do a lot of what they do for publicity. But publicity helps them make more money to donate (and who cares if it's a tax write off -- at least they're doing it) and it also helps garner attention for needy organizations. And to people who say they should adopt from here -- why? A child is a child regardless of where they come from. If you feel so strongly about where a child should be adopted from, THEN YOU ADOPT AN AMERICAN BABY. If you don't, don't judge others for choosing to help children with less of a chance.

It would mean more to whom? I doubt the organizations getting the money feel the value of their dollar is worth less because of the publicity.

39. Still can't buy respectability. There's not enough money in the world.

40. oh wow, amazing how there taxes are made public this year? what about the last 4 years, any money donated is great, but if brad company did not net him 45 million, would he still have donated that much? or if it was not a write off? all i'm saying is, let's stop blowing smike up there asses oh how great these people are, we all give time and money to help others out.

42. Good for them, and no TMZ they're not better than the rest of the us, they're RICHER. Get real!

43. Wihat a refreshing change it would be if Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt EVER performed their philanthropy discreetly, instead of using it for their own global self-promotion 24/7? It would seem so much more genuine that way.

Everyone is aware that legandary acting icon Paul Newman has donated HUNDREDS of millions of dollars to charity, right?

44. the money that was given to them for shiloh's pictures was given to charity not kept.

45. Clearly, they are grossly overpaid.
