49. I have to agree with poster #16 - other ethnic groups have assimilated, but blacks just continue to stagnate. Affirmative Action isn't working for them, and neither is the welfare system.

Have some pride, black people, and stop fathering children out of wedlock. Start treating education for what it is -- your ticket to a better future. Oh, and get over the past -- the rest of us have moved on, but your 'leadership' tells you that you're VICTIMS, and that people owe you things. This is 2008. Nobody owes you anything. 51. Thank you Obama for bringing to light what happens in Black Churches and Thank you Rev. Weeks for your adding even new information to it. White Churches arent perfect and the Catholics have paid dearly for their sins.

Black Churches it is now your turn to come clean and in some cases, start over. Ridding yourselves of being a front for a Political and Race message---which in recent cases is nothing more than vial Hatred for both.

Obama has turned into a Sharpton and Jackson only with an Ivy league pedigree. Same nonsense of a message that does not move a People forward.

Bishop Weeks is a wife abuser and should be banished from the Pulpit. Obama should withdrawl from the Election and get more real world experience and a track record before making promises based on nothing and advice from Rev. Wright.

White Males, which make up a large portion of those who actually will vote, are not going to go for Obama, some will, those who lean way left and are ultra liberal, but the vast majority cant relate to his lack of action on not leaving Trinity Church. White Males tend to be a culture with a bias for action and will not support one who doesnt take action...

58. No, this man (I use that term loosely) hasn't set African Americans back 50 yrs, as previously stated. He has set himself back. One African American man’s wrong doesn’t speak for an entire race.
I do think he does make a very good case for atheist. As a religious person, I find it hard sometimes to bring people to God, especially when they see the negativity of a few Christians. It’s unfortunate.
I live in California, so I never heard of their church before this incident, but I highly doubt this is the first time this has happened. I don’t understand why they’re letting him preach again so soon. He’s obviously sick and needs help. I hope both parties can get through this and renew their faith. With God anything is possible. I hate that fact that he is still using the media to profess his innocence even though he pleaded guilty. Not to mention him trying to promote his book in the mist of all this.

59. Um... He is NOT a bishop. Bishops are only in the Catholic and Episcipol Churches. Bishops are over an entire diocese... Not just the preacher at some big church. All those other churches that have "bishops," don't even know what a bishop really does or how the hierarchy works.
