Heath Ledger: Broker Than a Joker?

Could it be that one of the hottest actors in Hollywood barely had a pot to piss in when he died? If reports out of Australian papers are to be believed, Heath Ledger was only worth $145,000 at the time of his death.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the total value of Heath's estate is "$145,000, with furniture and fixtures worth $20,000, a Toyota Prius worth $25,000 and $100,000 in miscellaneous bank accounts." It also names Heath's father, mother and sisters as the only beneficiaries, but acknowledges his two-year-old daughter Matilda Rose as an interested party.

What this doesn't jibe with is family sources are telling TMZ that Matilda will be "well taken care of." So, where's the money?

Stay tuned ...

1. Does it really matter how much he is worth?? He's dead... let him rest in peace.

2. Wow, how the hell does a movie star like this be so low on cash??? Can't people live within their own means? Poor Matilda, fortunately she has a good mother to make sure she is taken care of. Geeesh.

3. I thought the reports of 600 million were a little high, but this is ridiculous. I thoguth the will was done before Matilda was born, so how was she "mentioned" in it?

Posted at 12:36PM on Mar 23rd 2008 by No way..

4. Yeah, right. Keep on believing that, he made no money during his last 4 films? Sounds like the family is hiding his estate from the true heir, Matilda. That child should get everything.

7. He wasn't yet paid for his role as the Joker in 'The Dark Night' so there's still millions that are not yet accounted for.

8. The story is misleading. The amount mentioned is the value of the assets Heath had in New York state at the time of his death. Any assets outside of New York were not included in this total.

11. The phrase is "to jibe with", not "to jive with" - not as bad as "too big for his britches" the other day, but does no one edit these posts?

13. I'm sick of hearing about this, this dead horse. This guy has been dead for two months and he makes headlines over and over. No one cared that much when he was alive. Quit trying to milk it dry. I'm so sick of hearing about this druggie.

14. Granted, Michelle is the MOTHER. Matilda lost her father and what he could provide emotionally and monitarily. Even if the two of them were to get everything, I'll bet they would trade it all to have Heath back. God Bless the family and Godspeed to all.
