Heath Ledger: Broker Than a Joker?

Could it be that one of the hottest actors in Hollywood barely had a pot to piss in when he died? If reports out of Australian papers are to be believed, Heath Ledger was only worth $145,000 at the time of his death.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the total value of Heath's estate is "$145,000, with furniture and fixtures worth $20,000, a Toyota Prius worth $25,000 and $100,000 in miscellaneous bank accounts." It also names Heath's father, mother and sisters as the only beneficiaries, but acknowledges his two-year-old daughter Matilda Rose as an interested party.

What this doesn't jibe with is family sources are telling TMZ that Matilda will be "well taken care of." So, where's the money?

Stay tuned ...

49. In case anyone is interested in knowing, this issue was discussed the other night on tv. According to the lawyers who were speaking, despite the fact that the will was drawn up before his daughter even existed, she will be considered the closest living relative. Because of that, she stands to inherit everything. Apparently under New York law (according to the lawyers), it doesn't matter if she wasn't named in the will and his family was. She will likely be named the sole heir to his estate.

50. If you do your research you will find that he did not demand high salaries. He was into the experience and stretch as a performer. The Joker was probably his first real money maker and it has not yet come to fruition.

51. Hey tmz staff, don't you have any respect for the deceased. On second thought, that article and its header is not surprising coming from a sleazy two bit tabloid website like tmz. Shame!

54. Usually people with substantial assets have those assets held in trusts - upon their death, those trusts ARE NOT part of public record (probate). Only probate assets are listed in wills. Therefore, he could have had a substantial amount of cash setup in trusts. Hopefully his attorneys did this for him.

56. $100,000 in several bank accounts is NOT broke! Invested wisely, it'll only get better. Plus, he's got "Batman" profits coming to his Estate.

May God Bless Michele and Matilda and us all, everyone. xo
