Tejano Star Emilio Navaira Critical After Crash

Grammy-winning Tejano singer Emilio Navaira was critically injured after his band's bus crashed in Houston.

Navaira and his band Rio had performed at a Houston nightclub on Saturday night. Cops say around 5:00 AM Sunday the band's bus slammed into traffic barrels on Interstate 610 northbound in Bellaire, a posh area west of downtown Houston.

Navaira is currently in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital. His brother Raul was also injured in the wreck, along with several other members of the band.

The 45-year-old Navaira and Rio have released more than a dozen albums. "Acuerdate" won the 2003 Grammy for best Tejano album.

49. Hey hater why don't you go back home to another planet because you're seriously out numbered here. Your comments show that you don't deserve to be a member of the human race. I'd tell you to go back to where you're ancestors came from but it's very obvious by you're ignorant and heartless statements that they probably would deny you, wouldn't accept you and would be thoroughly ashamed of you. It's best that you go back to a planet full of aliens since that has to be a part of your DNA. You're losing this battle. DNA=Don't Know Anything.

51. Emilio is a Tejano King. The tejano community would not be the same without him. Next to SELENA he had alot to do with brining us excellent tejano music. I have had the privelage of being able to see him at the HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO and it was amazing. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, IT would be a GREAT loss if he didnt pull threw. Houstonians are sending their best wishes in hope for a speedy recovery. We CAN NOT loose our TEJANO KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best wishes Emilio y Grupo Rio you are and always will be one of the BEST!
