Because "Tom's Diner" was used in early trials of developing the MP3 file compression system, Vega is often referred to as the "Mother of the MP3."

Suzanne allegedly tried out for Madonna's role in the 1985 film, "Desperately Seeking Susan."

21. I deliberately FORGOT about Suzanne Vega. I hated her songs. Thanks for drudging up the past TMZ. Now I'll NEVER get that stupid "Tom's Diner" melody out of my head. Grrr.

29. Met her at a show she did in Londonderry, NH. She is very beautiful and is still a very good musician! If you get the chance to see her live it is worth it, especially if you have followed her music. Definately a nice person to have met, LOVE YOU SUSAN...YOU GO GIRL!
