Sambora Could Be Charged with Endangering Kid

Richie Sambora could be criminally charged with child endangerment.

Richie Sambora was busted for DUI with his 10-year-old daughter Ava in the car, along with another juvenile and another adult -- a woman. If Sambora was driving drunk, he could be charged with endangering the two kids.

Police sources tell us Sambora has not been charged with endangerment but the Laguna Beach P.D. is "actively investigating."

And, police sources say, after Sambora was busted, the cops called Heather Locklear, Ava's mom. We're told Heather authorized the woman in the car to drive her daughter home.

93. Wow, there are some incredibly stupid comments here, such as
(1) What he did isn't so bad, because everybody does it
(2) It's a disease and he couldn't help it
(3) Punitive measures don't help

And that's just a few of the incredibly stupid comments I'm seeing. I cannot believe anyone who authored that kind of stupidity actually has children and, if they do, probably think it isn't their responsibility to support them. How will you drunk lovers feel if it's your mom or sister or even your little baby who gets mowed down by one of these cretins? Then, let's hear all these stupid, pass-the-buck comments. God. Hopefully, it will be one of you who gets run down by the next drunk driver so you can't propagate.

96. #89 - There is no logic to your post! Of course you are drunk when your blood alcohol level is above state law. If he wasn't driving erratically they wouldn't have pulled him over! It's easy to tell when your friggin drunk, swerving over lanes, passing red lights, etc. I don't wanna be on the other end of his irresponsible driving!!!

97. Jennifer loves JBJ: That's the whole point of driving drunk- you DO feel FINE. You don't even realize you are drunk. I hope you stop drinking and driving..

98. To Let's See : Barbara's absolutely 100% right. My best friends were wiped out on prom night by a guy who said he was only "Buzzed" "Nobody's perfect. This guy was 56.

99. I should say that there are plenty of right-on comments, too...

But the poor drunk-as-victim, let's understand the criminal attitude makes my blood boil, meds or no meds, and laid or not. Anyone here who is a responsible parent probably feels exactly the same right now. There's just no excuse for this guy and those that are trying to excuse his behavior need to grow up.

But, that's only my opinion.

100. Does it occur to any of you that perhaps Heather, knowing that it was Dad's week to have the kids by the visitation order, was out of town and could not drive to pick up her kid? The article says police contacted her, and you can bet the cops determined that the other adult in the car was safe to drive, else they wouldn't have allowed her to leave the scene with Heather's kid in the car. Heather's other option would have been to tell the cops to take her child into state custody, which - if you know anything about LA's Dept of Child and Family Services - would have endangered her a lot more than driving home with a sober adult!

102. 46. Shut up, DAX! No one here said it was heathers fault, only how crappy it was of her not to go pick her kid up at police station. papparazi for these 2, please, only if by accident!

Posted at 4:50PM on Mar 26th 2008 by kandie

Kandie, the police would not have taken the child to the police station in the barf and pee covered back of a patrol car if a sober adult was there to take the child home, and the sober parent approved by phone. Read, people.

103. Im totally disgusted and disappointed in him. How many interviews have we all seen where the ONLY thing important to him in his life is his child, and his wish to have more. Seems to me that whatever issues he is having are HIS issues and shame on him for putting all of those people in the car at risk and risking the lives of everyone he drove past that night before he got stopped. I make way less than he does and if i have money to get smashed keep some money to get your ass home in a cab. or dig deep into those rich pockets filled with your fans money and hire a car. God what is it with these totally rich idiots who drink and drive. Im not sure what goes through these peoples head but one thing is clear. They only care about themselves.

104. To those of you saying, "He loves Ava and would never do this to her": An alcoholic would sell his mother down the river for alcohol. That's what comes first...the drink. Everything else...including their own children, no matter how deeply they love them otherwise...comes last when an alcoholic is drinking. Period.

105. No, I have zero sympathy for him. I grew up with a dad who drank and drove with us kids in the car. We had several near misses and in fact one time landed in the ditch on an icy curve as he was drunk and speeding - ..Sambora drinking and driving with his child reminds me of what I went through and makes you wonder how many times this has actually happened, ya, maybe just the once or was this the time he got caught?
