48. I'm with you, Ann. What's the point in having Nipple Rings ? Somebody tell us. Some fads should not be fads - like hair extensions on women and errings on men. Really dumb looking.

49. The TSA had every right to ask the woman to remove her piercings. As someone commented earlier, the woman very well could have had something else hidden on her person, and security had to make certain that it was merely the nipple rings that were setting off the detectors--------for everyone else's safety. As for security checks that allow people to just pass on through after they confide that they have piercings, THAT concerns me. People do lie, ya know. I guess if I was a terrorist and wanted to sneak a weapon on board all I'd have to do is say "oh, it's only a prince albert tee hee, do not worry"? Psssssssssht. Hamlin knew the rules.
And another thing, in the AP's story on this Allred says she sent a letter to director of the TSA's Office of Civil Rights and Liberties, and in this letter she says:
"After nipple rings are inserted, the skin can often heal around the piercing, and the rings can be extremely difficult and painful to remove."
Ok, sure cb rings can be a pain in the butt to remove or change out I agree with that but for pete's sake if your skin is grown up around the darned thing you should have removed it a long time ago! That's NOT normal. So, no sympathy from me for Hamlin on that one if she's stupid enough to walk around with a deformed, badly healed piercing.
For the record, I have 12 piercings and I'm aware of when it is appropriate to sport them and when it is not. IMO, I'd venture a guess that preparing to pass through a metal detector is not a good time.

52. Come on, lets use some common sense on this. The stupid rings are not a threat to anyone. I think the TSA is really a joke, all they hassle is little old ladies in wheel chairs and baby's.

53. I have 21 body piercings at the moment and have never set off a metal dector in an airport. I have both nipples pierced as well as 3 downstairs. I had to take out one of my nipple piercings when I was getting a breast ultrasound and it closed over too much for me to get it back in straight away so I let it heal and got it done again which hurt alot more than the first time due to the scar tissue.

The reason I have my nipples pierced is because I love how they look and feel (nipples and downstairs are more for the feel than the look as only my SIG, my doctor, nurse and myself will see them)

54. I'm sorry. Whether you agree with someone, even her, wearing nipple rings or not, last time I checked we were still a free country. And people make their own choices about what piercings, tattoos or anything else they'd like to do to their body. Some of you without piercings may not realize that they're not all made to just "be removed for a bit."

My belly's pierced and I've never had that trigger an alarm. Necklaces, rings, etc... I've never taken any of it off. Wands are for scanning, hands are for patting down... it's obvious these TSA folks were on a power trip.

Anyone that truly believes that giving the government (with the $8.00/hr TSA employees) all your rights in return for "protection" is sorely misguided. There is no real protection in the end. You're just giving the big guy more control. You want to protect yourself? Go live in a bunker. That's the only time you can really be sure you're safe.

58. Gloria Allred never smiles. She's an evil old hag. Remember when she was on TV with that dumb as a rock former body guard of Britney's? She was sitting there coaching him what to say the whole time. Later he admitted he had lied. Allred almost makes Kaplan look honest - well, maybe not.

59. as a TSA employee at LAX i can tell that we screen over 650,000 passengers a week and in my five years i have heard of anyone being forced to remove their private parts jewelry. we offer anybody the option to be screened privately if they have some type of piercing or whatnot that might be embarrising. for the person that claims that tsa employees make $7-$9 dollars and hour...thats news to me, starting salary for new hires is at $14.73 an hours and i make 3 times that and yes we have had employees that have stolen items from passengers but i can tell you that most of the thefts come from the baggage handlers hired by the airlines, at lax all of our screening areas are covered by several videocameras and thats for the safety of our employees and the flying public.

another thing, if anybody thinks that gloria allred has credibility than their smoking something. look at her recent past clients, britney spears ex bodyguard, this nipple ring chick and scott petersons mistress......enough said

60. Why would anyone want to have anything other than their ears pierced? I don't get it.

I thought at first that Gloria was stating that it was she herself who had the piercings. Then when you see the sue happy "victim" you know for sure that something is drastically wrong.

Lisa Bloom, Gloria's daughter, is getting to be as bad as Gloria but still I'd think she'd be embarrased by her mother.
