Life After "Idol" Is a Rocky Road

Season 6 "A.I." wannabeens Melinda Doolittle and Chris Richardson ('memba them?) are realizing that life post-"Idol" can be cold -- ice cream cold!

With their music careers frozen, Melinda and Chris are making ends meet by shilling ice cream as part of a Dreyer's ice cream national promotional tour -- at Vons, Stop & Shop and Winn-Dixie! "Idol" loser in aisle three!

Kristy Lee and Ramiele need not worry about their future -- somewhere there's a Safeway (or a local balloon festival, outlet mall or housing development) waiting for them!

16. OK Well for starters TMZ's comments are what is to be expected "Cold" and "Unfounded" based on nothing but their own personal oppinions and not on FACTS! I think there is a spot in the checkout section of your local grocery store for "stories" just like above as I know there is a spot in my home for "unwanted junk like this" Its called "THE TRASH" ! That being said ALL of "YOU HATERS" on here have a choice of what to watch on TV so Idol is not being forced down your throat! You obviously do not know these people you are trashing but let me tell you I know personally quite a few of them and I know that their success stories go above and beyond their vocal talent!! So before you open your mouth and "insert foot" walk in their steps and see if you will feel differently! Can you touch the soul of a someone that is fighting for their life and give them the hope and strength to fight farther? hmm well I know for a fact Elliot Yamin and CHris Richardson have both accomplished that thru their VOICE,MUSIC, and Tremendously HUGE HEART!! So IMO I will share a dish of icecream any day with these Idols and I will Love and Support their music because I Have SEEN the Miracles they Create!!!
Have A NICE Day!!

17. And I thought TMZ carried breaking news not some stupid piece that's already been covered. Why don't you do what you do best and publish more crotch shots of today's most beloved artists. Really, Melinda and Chris that's your best targets?
Melinda Doolittle has an amazing voice and can sing circles around Jordin Sparks, so she's on the Dreyers tour so what?
What's wrong with meeting their fans and doing radio and TV interviews? And Chris Richardson, I don't think we've even seen the extent of his talent although All Alone is a damm good start. The tour started like 4 weeks ago and you're just commenting about it now? Maybe your writers should check out Perez's site for up to the minute news. By the way, pick an artist who hasn't
aligned themselves with a sponsor lately. TMZ, more like DOA.

18. I love your comment, venonaD.

wish I were a big loser like them, too. AI is still airing, because it's what entertains a lot of people, if you don't like it, don't watch, not like AI knows you exist anyway. At least these two are doing something to get closer to their fans and are genuine about it. And there's nothing better for an artist than to get close to a fan and promote their music first hand.. the promotional tour is free and everyone pretty much loves freebies. you get to meet the Idol you like and he/she even performs for you if you asked nice enough. and these two are nice enough.

19. Oh brilliant, TMZ. Pick on two upstanding, genuine and talented people who are travelling around the country, promoting themselves, and getting to have one on one face time with their fans...oh yes, and getting paid to do it as well as getting radio time in each of the cities. Yeah, they're real losers (rolling eyes). Apparently you haven't heard about Melinda's album dropping in June and Chris' to follow at the end of the summer. Nor, have you heard Chris' new single, "All Alone" which is freshly out on Amazon.com (and ranked in the top 100 dowloads). It is an amazing song and a sure sign of great things to come for him. Maybe TMZ should do their fact checking next time, oh wait, then they would have nothing to report on! As for poster #9 (Amanda), just a few names for you: Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Elliot Yamin, Kelly Pickler, Josh Gracin...to name a few. Man, I wish I was a bad as they are.....

Kudos to Melinda and Chris for getting out there and meeting even more of their fans! I for one cannot wait to run out and buy their albums this summer!

20. I agree. These two didn't need to be dumped on that way. Now, on the other hand, Hollyweird is full of likely targets- Go get u sum !

21. Where do these writers come from?? Seriously! Bashing two talented people that are spending their time meeting with people and expanding their fan base is probably not the way to sell news...if ya' wanna call it "news"! Ah...I can't even think what to write because you people @ TMZ are so freakin' stupid! Get a grip, check your "facts", and while you're at it you should probably check record sales before you publish something so idiotic!

22. TMZ please do some research first....

02/26/2008 -- Singer Melinda Doolittle is promoting a new album and a line of "American Idol"-related ice cream.

Doolittle, who finished third place in last season's "Idol" competition, has released a single online of "My Funny Valentine." Doolittle, who visited KCRA 3 in Sacramento on Tuesday, said her life has changed dramatically since her "Idol" appearance.
"I think the hardest part about it is knowing that everywhere I go, people are going to know who I am," she said, adding that she loves the attention from fans. "So, occasionally I don't look the cutest, but people still take a picture." Doolittle described her debut album, which comes out in June, as "kind of eclectic." "I'm a soul girl at heart," she said. "So it's got soul. It's got some groove to it. But I like that little rock edge. So, it's a little gritty." Doolittle is a spokeswoman for Dreyer's ice cream, which comes in several "American Idol" flavors. Doolittle is also scheduled to appear at Raley's at 3935 Park Drive in El Dorado Hills from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Before gaining fame through "American Idol," Doolittle sang backup for many other performers, including Michael McDonald, Jonny Lang and Aaron Neville.

She is a really a smart women. she didn't jump right away to make her album, she did wait and choose carefully and make sure everything will be the best for her fans. She really a amazing person inside and outside. She did a lot Christmas tour, Breakfast for Martin Luther King Junior, Christmas at Belmont, Maleria no more with the wife of President Bush, and more and more. 24. #8 get your facts straight. This show has given life and stardom to many who would not be anywhere near as successful as they are now. Do some flop after idol...sure. However, they were no worse off than before they got their shot on the show (atleast their name is known). Off the top of my head the names Underwood, Daughtry, AIken, Clarkson, McPhee, Covington, Pickler all have succeeded from this show.

TMZ...Their tour just ended last October...Jordin gets to put out album first (she won). Then others will put out albums. Only then will we know how successful they will become. The work with Dryers as you know is a promotional tour and is part of being an idol. What a joke TMZ is for allowing this type of slanderous article that those who might not know better will believe.

25. Okay okay, I love how 99% of TMZ articles are pure B.S! Just like JC dating a guy... and Joey stating that he only knows about LANCE.. Funny but serious BS. NOW lets get on to my boy Chris Richardson! I think it is very smart of him to have signed up with Dryers to do the tour. WHY? because unlike some ARTISTS out there, he can connect with his fans, which in all reality are going to be what makes him! I hate people who ignore their fans like their nothing, when without them they would be NOTHING.
I dont know why you always constantly hate on people, its rediculas! OH and as far as your reporting skills go, maybe you should be in a class somewhere knowing how to do reports, and your photo -shop skills aren't up to par either... I am pretty sure a 5 year old could have done a better job!

You know what keep hatin on Chris and Melinda, cuz your putting their names out there... How much you wonna make a bet this article got him some serious down load time on Amazon!

haha looks like your point was made in the opposite direction.

27. Chris Richardson has been busy working hard on his debut album, which is going to be released as early as this Summer and no later than the end of the year. His hot new debut single is called "ALL ALONE" and can be downloaded on Amazon.com, and soon to be on itunes. He is extremely talented; a gifted singer/songwriter, skilled musician (guitar, piano, drums), and has been working with many accomplished producers. Chris has many fans and we are all proud of him and are looking forward to buying his music!!

28. Oh yes, poor Chris and Melinda. Flying into town, first class by the way, on Tuesday for radio and tv spots. Wednesday, a two hour appearence at the store, and a one hour home concert. Thursday, fly home first class. Promoting themselves AND making bank. Wish I was a "loser" like them.

One thing everyone seems to forget is that you do not have to sell a million records to be a success in the music business.
It's real nice, but not required. Denver is not really a "big city" but we have several small venues with shows almost every night of the week. Venues where I have seen and enjoyed, Finger 11, My Chemical Romance, Panic at the Disco, Soulja Boy, and Spearhead, just to name a few.

But I totally understand your need to bash people with more.....anything.
Glad it makes you feel better.
