Oprah Buys Gayle a Maxi Pad?

Gayle King really could be movin' on up to the east side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky ... and it just might be courtesy of gal pal Oprah Winfrey. We just got -- pardon us -- the skinny.

TMZ has done some diggin' and found Oprah's LLC -- called Sophie's Penthouse -- purchased the $7.1 million phat Manhattan penthouse two weeks ago. BTW, Sophie was the name of Oprah's dog, which just died. And Sofia was her character in "The Color Purple." Good detective work, we think.

There are reports Gayle is moving in. A well-placed source connected to the property tells us it's "uncertain" at this time if Gayle will live large in O's pad. Gayle has said she wants to spend more time in NYC to work with O's magazine and her XM radio show.

O had no comment. Gayle's peeps tell TMZ they don't comment on her private life. They leave that to us!

19. Oprah can do whatever she wants to do with her money. My problem with her is that she feels it's necessary to elect politicians that will Tax the Americans who can't afford to pay for health care for the masses and any other wasteful govt. agency. If she can waste money on her girlfriend, how about she donate her riches to the federal Gov't making it easier on the rest of us PO Folk. Just another Hypocritical Democratic Hack. Like O'Bama 's mentor says. "God Damn America"

20. Hardly "breaking news" as Gayle's been talking about the move for a couple of months now on XM. She hasn't mentioned that her best friend is bank-rolling the change, but if your best friend for over 20 years was a gazillionaire I'd expect she'd do the same for you. If, in fact, Ops and Gayle "play for the same team" don't you think they'd be backing Hillary rather than Obama, just to keep one of their players on top??

28. I think O paid too much for the penthouse.

(1) The Kitchen is next to the bath-room
(2) See through fireplace peeks into bedroom
(3) The W/D is near the kitchen
(4) The W/D doesn't have its' own room
(5) Must walk all the way around the property to the hot tub from the living/dining room
(6) Only two fireplaces
(7) No outdoors fireplace

The Best: The Wrap a Round Terrace, Lovely!
