Oprah Buys Gayle a Maxi Pad?

Gayle King really could be movin' on up to the east side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky ... and it just might be courtesy of gal pal Oprah Winfrey. We just got -- pardon us -- the skinny.

TMZ has done some diggin' and found Oprah's LLC -- called Sophie's Penthouse -- purchased the $7.1 million phat Manhattan penthouse two weeks ago. BTW, Sophie was the name of Oprah's dog, which just died. And Sofia was her character in "The Color Purple." Good detective work, we think.

There are reports Gayle is moving in. A well-placed source connected to the property tells us it's "uncertain" at this time if Gayle will live large in O's pad. Gayle has said she wants to spend more time in NYC to work with O's magazine and her XM radio show.

O had no comment. Gayle's peeps tell TMZ they don't comment on her private life. They leave that to us!

32. Well, they've been life- long best friends ... I think it would be pretty cool to be in a position where you can do something like that for your best friend. I don't see anything wrong with it.

37. Oprah is so fake- I have lost all respect for her. She acts like she is so mighty and god's gift to man- Remember when her flop "Beloved" movie came out and she said this is "my gift" to the world- she couldn't be humble, but made it seem like we should kiss her fat feet for gracing us, And then she makes a school for African girls - what about African boys? Why are they neglected - that's reverse sexism! And then on the tv special, one of the girls gets all pouty with Oprah, and asks who will pay for their college ed? Then Oprah says whe will pay for all of the girls in her school to have a college ed too. Well what about all of the boys who never had a chance to go to the school, and what about all of the other little girls that were rejected from going to the school because they can only have so many accepted????

She sucks- everyone knows she is a closeted lesbo- she sends Gayle across the nation to find the best desert and the best hamburger, and live in the best hotels- just to boost up Gayle's ego, cuz she had her own talk show too but it flopped big time and was canceled. Rosie O'Donnell is right in that both Gayle and Oprah are closeted lesbos, and totally FAKE!!!

38. You people don't know history!! Oprah has been friends with her for a long, long, long, time. Regardless of their relationship... A BEST, truly BEST friend is invaluable in a persons life. The reward and wealth of the relationship out weighs anything material. I think its cool that she has a strong relationship like that, something if we thought about it, we'd all envy.

39. You know I kind of think they probably are lovers. I remember an interview with someone once and the interviewer asked this person if they knew and were friends with Oprah. The person said that yes they had met Oprah and were friends with her and Gayle too. I thought it was an odd response at the time. Responding like they were a couple instead of saying Oprah and Stedman.

40. Why can't Gail King buy her own place? I am sooo tired of these two and so happy Oprah is no longer the #1 rated talk show host. She should get off the air just like so many of the others. None of them are good and ABC seems to be the worst, with Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sherry Shepherd, Joy Behar and Oprah. Yuk, yuk, yuk!

45. LOL!!!! I didn't mean to sound like I'm bragging, it's just a simple fact. Oprah just happens to getting on my very last nerve lately. One thing I've always detested is when she has a singer on and she's "singing along" and doesn't know the words. ROFLMAO What a phony!
