"Hack" is an adjective, not a noun. Dane's material is sometimes called "hack" (lacking originality, creativity and depth) because he does played-out relationship material mixed in with cheap bathroom humor. So he's not a hack, his jokes are (in the spray painter's opinion).

he is a hack! He steals material from other comedians constantly and 99% of his comedy is not even slightly funny!

by the way, it is a noun too and the adjective form is short for hackneyed
