Richie Sambora May Nip DUI in the Bud -- Get It?

Richie Sambora may dodge a bullet in his DUI bust earlier this week, and not because of legal footwork -- because he may not have been DUI.

Sambora volunteered to submit to a blood alcohol test after he was popped in Laguna Beach. It may take a week before we know the results. But several sources -- who know what the alleged drunk drank -- tell TMZ Richie simply didn't drink much at all before the cops stopped him, and the blood test may register below the .08 legal limit in Calif.

True enough, if he was driving erratically and had any alcohol in him, he could still theoretically be charged with DUI. But that may not be in the cards either.

There's a buzz that Heather may go into court to wrestle away some of Richie's custody of their kid, Ava. Our sources say, ain't gonna happen. Part of the reason -- Heather has her own issues. But the biggest reason is that we're told Richie may be the best dad in rock & roll -- he has flown from gigs in Japan to see Ava play softball.

And you thought TMZ only took shots. Apology accepted.

47. The Richie fans are too funny! Ha...Ha.....the guy failed field sobriety tests....the blood test was suggested by his attorney, either a very smart move or a dumb one since it will also show other substances, a smart one because it delays the alcohol count unless the drinks were recent. The girlfriend does not care since she is with a rock star. A bad situation all around. Heather's sister should sue his ass for putting her child in danger on purpose, since he knows he should not drink!

48. if heather isn't going to sue him, why should her sister?

50. I love all the wanna be lawyers on this site. Either you've been in trouble too many times (so you have no room to talk) or you live in the world of make believe.

51. Or maybe they work in law enforcement or legal fields, or know people who do. Or maybe they know people who've been pulled over. Many possibilities, but you choose to see only one that suits your agenda. I think you're the one living in a fantasy world, Richie fan.

52. Zig honey, that's all you've got? If they work in legal fields, doesn't make them a lawyer. Everyone knows someone in the legal field - doesn't make them knowledgeable as well. Also, those who have been pulled over obviously don't know the law or they wouldn't have been pulled over.

Oh and nice touch with the "Richie fan,"....you really told me!

53. First off, I'm not your honey. Second, common sense should tell you that you don't need to be a lawyer or a drunk driver to know the laws. I'm married to a peace officer and I've learned more than I care to about the legal system. I've seen fans here berate the officers for doing their job. You all should be thankful they pull over reckless drivers. Let me also add that there should be a special license required for owners of these mammoth SUV's.

54. I agree with you. I think cops put up with a lot from the public and most of them do their jobs very well. They keep the streets safe and I am truly grateful for that. I also don't think they are given the credit or praise they deserve. However, from my point of view, both my brothers are attorneys and I have heard time after time of cases they have of friends, victims and witnesses coming in with wrong information. Information that they were given by friends who "knew the law." I personally know nothing about Richie Sambora or Bon Jovi. I don't know if he is a drunk, druggie, or just all around loser. I do know people constantly jump to conclusions and make up their own scenario of what happened and/or what should happen. Although I am usually more on the side of the prosecution, I do not feel that it is fair to anyone to be condemned before all the facts have come out and the proper authories evaluate.

55. how could this be? didn't he take a breathalyzer too? when i took i breathalyzer they knew the result right away. this sounds like a fix is being put in.

56. I don't condone DUI and certainly not with your child in the car BUT let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt- he is suspected of DUI, not convicted. As for Jon Bon Jovi 'warning' Sambora, here's a thought for Jon- there is no Bon Jovi without Sambora! So Jon- go watch your arena football team and let Sambora deal with his issues the way he sees best for himself!

57. Are you insane???? If you know anything at all about Bon Jovi you would know that Jon started out by himself with his song Runaway under HIS givin name, which is what?? Then JON hired David, Tico, Alec and then Richie last to become the band Bon Jovi. Only he changed the spelling of HIS last name. I would hate to see Richie out of the band for awhile & maybe that's what he needs is more down time in rehab. But, if you remember Jon did let Alec go after a few warnings. Like it or not it's a job and if you keep messing up on the job (or off) then the boss has no choice but to let you go, friends or not. I hope that he can get the help he needs. He has had the year from hell after losing his Dad, Heather and Ava/

Yes, Jon does have alot other things in his life to keep him busy as you stated ( football, acting , RSVP, Kenneth Cole clothing , Habitat and Etc & Etc....). Richie does not so he does need to get himself put back together and get sober and stay that way before something worse happens the next time.

Now, for the point of this email....
Just like the skit Jon did on SNL " Yes, Amy (queenie) Bon Jovi's still around".
And then Bon Jovi Fan Club added: In the future...with or without Richie. Sad but true!

58. Richie is just a man... A man who made a mistake and we've all been there. He needs to be allowed to regroup and get on with his life, he's suffered alot of loss lately, and he needs to heal! His bond with Ava will never break, even if he is human!
Just because he's somebody special, doesn't mean heshouldn't get treated fairly. Those who want to see him fail are all over this mistake he made! Maybe they should look at themselves alittle closer. Here For You RICHIE... ALWAYS! BJ
