Is There a Levert Curse? Sean Dies While In Jail

How much tragedy can one family take?? Another Levert has died -- and this one was in jail!

Sean Levert, son of O'Jays singer Eddie Levert and brother of late R&B legend Gerald Levert, died over the weekend while in a Cleveland jail.

Levert had reportedly been in the Cuyahoga County Jail serving time for failing to pay roughly $80,000 in child support when he collapsed late last night. The warden of the jail tells TMZ that after Sean collapsed, he was immediately rushed to the hospital. He says Sean died at the hospital, not the jail as others have reported.

The warden says that they were unaware of any condition Sean may have been suffering from. The Coroner confirms they have received his body and are currently investigating the cause of death.

Sean, who as member of the 80s group Levert, hit it big with the song "Casanova." He was also featured in a few movies, including "New Jack City." His brother Gerald died in his sleep in November 2006.

17. Yeahhhhhhhhhhh so now we have killed the father of a child because he was behind in child support. Never mind the fact that the child will now not be able to have a relationship with their father. Just lock em all up and hope they die in custody, that's always the answer. Throwing someone in jail for not paying cs is flat out stupid, it ruins their relationship with their child and other problems. Look for better solutions, and I hope that baby has someone else that they can turn to for a father figure as they get older! God knows that their father is no longer an option.

22. Do we really know the truth behind why he was behind in his child support? If not, then shut up. Plain and simple, until you understand the whole thruth you cannot judge a man. And besies, when did being behind in child support every become a reason for someone to die? His death is not going to do anything for his children. Those who have made smart remarks regarding his death should be ashamed of yourselves!

24. There wouldn't be any dead beat dads if their low selfesteem women would stop having babies by irresponsible men. The mother chooses the father of her kids and therefore the fate of her kids. All I have to say is please don't basturdize your children. Too many women have kids just because their pregnant. Remember children are not dogs, they must be loved, guided, protected, nurtured and supported. Kids are not toys. Too many people think that pregancy is gods gift. Acctually, god didn't tell you to have sex, and god didn't tell you to have a baby. So, if a woman is capable, it really isan't a gift, it is a choice. So choose the right father for your child. OR don't have the child. Black people devistate our communities with all these fatherless children. WAAAAAAKE UP!!!!!! JUST STOP IT!!!!

25. It is sad to read some of the comments saying that he deserved to die. You don't know what type of relationship he had with his children. You also have to ask when was the child support set up and think about what he was making at thime child support was filed. It is obvious that he wasn't making that same amount of money. So before you write something ignorant know and see the whole picture.

26. Those of you who said he is better off dead...are heartless. I am sure his kids would rather have a dead beat father than no father at all. Worst of all, they have to deal with the fact that he died in jail over child support issues involving them. So they problably will think it was their fault. Futhermore, who are we to even call him dead beat, can any of you pay 80k in child support? He hasn't made a hit record in years. Don't be so quick to pass judgment. RIP.

28. It is more important that this young man is gone. His parents are once again in mourning. The children are more alone than before and who knows what the after affects on these children will be. Children are not a part of the money system, they are the sufferers in either case. To top it all off how will they remember their da with all the negative pubilicity.

29. I can't believe that this man has lost his life and all you can think about is BACK CHILD SUPPORT!!!! Even if he didn't pay his child support that does not mean that he did not take care of his children. Don't get it twisted because you don't know the full story about the child support. How do you know that he didn't have issues with the baby mama? You should all be ashamed! These people have lost two sons in such a short amount of time, therefore your hearts should be full of sorrow for this family.
