Is There a Levert Curse? Sean Dies While In Jail

How much tragedy can one family take?? Another Levert has died -- and this one was in jail!

Sean Levert, son of O'Jays singer Eddie Levert and brother of late R&B legend Gerald Levert, died over the weekend while in a Cleveland jail.

Levert had reportedly been in the Cuyahoga County Jail serving time for failing to pay roughly $80,000 in child support when he collapsed late last night. The warden of the jail tells TMZ that after Sean collapsed, he was immediately rushed to the hospital. He says Sean died at the hospital, not the jail as others have reported.

The warden says that they were unaware of any condition Sean may have been suffering from. The Coroner confirms they have received his body and are currently investigating the cause of death.

Sean, who as member of the 80s group Levert, hit it big with the song "Casanova." He was also featured in a few movies, including "New Jack City." His brother Gerald died in his sleep in November 2006.

46. What the hell is wrong with people? Why would you post such a comment as 'better off dead"? Think about his family, The Levert family just buried another son less than a year ago. May God have mercy on your soul. My prayers go out to his family. ALL communities has fatherless children!!!! Not just black communities, you need to wake up!!!!

47. Oh My God People even if he was a dead beat dad that doesnt deserve a death sentence people, and after all I am dealing with a dead beat dad my damn self and I would never wish death on my childs father everyone has to have a chance for redemption it is never too late and besides we are not looking at the big picture here death is not the problem for Sean it is the ones he has left behind that are dealing with this, think of his mom and his dad children are not suppose to go before their parents and also dead beat dad or not think of his child or children they are left with out a father and no one knows exactly what they are feeling or will experience as times passes by because of this, you can make up for a dead beat dad but once he is totally gone and never coming back no one can make up for that. PEACE! and God bless you all.

48. If the dude wasn't paying child support, what makes you think he was having anything to do with the child?

49. Betty Grable, no one deserves to die over money! You must have personal issues and have a deadbeat dad for your own children, why else would you say that! Perhaps the his kids mother was a gold digger since he comes from a famous family. Just because he dad has money doesn't mean he was wealthy.

BTW: From what I hear from people who knew him is that he was "always" with his children, so he had to be taking care of them but the women wanted more $$$ in their hand because his last name was "Levert".

Betty Grable and the rest of you who wish harm on another person (especially over mone) watch what you wish for, karma is a mofo!

53. No sympathy here. Men who won't do whatever it takes to support their kids are bums.

I'm sure God is explaining the concept of parental responsibility to the creep right now. Too bad the lesson is a bit late.

56. Make sure you know all the facts before making hateful comments. If you don't have $80,000 then you can't pay $80,000.
My condolences to the Levert family.

59. First,my heart and prayers go out to the Levert family. I see there are some bitter people commenting on this page. I am a father and don't approve of any man not taking care of his own. On the other hand, this is not the time to be calling names and acting like we don't have our own skeletons. I'm sure you have screwed over someone in your life at least once. Even if you have no respect for him, at least respect his family...including his children. They have to live with this, not you.
