Is There a Levert Curse? Sean Dies While In Jail

How much tragedy can one family take?? Another Levert has died -- and this one was in jail!

Sean Levert, son of O'Jays singer Eddie Levert and brother of late R&B legend Gerald Levert, died over the weekend while in a Cleveland jail.

Levert had reportedly been in the Cuyahoga County Jail serving time for failing to pay roughly $80,000 in child support when he collapsed late last night. The warden of the jail tells TMZ that after Sean collapsed, he was immediately rushed to the hospital. He says Sean died at the hospital, not the jail as others have reported.

The warden says that they were unaware of any condition Sean may have been suffering from. The Coroner confirms they have received his body and are currently investigating the cause of death.

Sean, who as member of the 80s group Levert, hit it big with the song "Casanova." He was also featured in a few movies, including "New Jack City." His brother Gerald died in his sleep in November 2006.

93. Thanks Stanley M for your comments. My heart goes out to Sean's mother and father. I can't believe the people who said he is better off dead. What ever happened to love for one another? How do you think his family will feel reading all this negative Shigaty. A lot of you need to find the nearest church and spend some time there. I will pray for the Levert family and will also pray for you negative jackasses.....And before you start bad mouthing me -- keep in mind -- the Lord said "Ass."

Father and Creator of the Universe, please forgive those people that made those Horrible, Degrading comments about the late Sean Levert. {They don't know} what his personal situation was concerning his child support agreement, or court order for that matter. {They don't know} if that was an annual payment, or a monthly payment. {They don't know} if the child's mother was awarded to much because he was a Star. {They don't know} how much money he may have received from Royalties and Publishing for that hit song which was released over 15 years ago. How can they said such things about a Soul that has went on to the Father. Father Almighty God Please forgive them for they do not know what they are saying...Because THEY DO NOT KNOW!!!! 95. The people who post negative comments must be paid. I truly believe that they post incendiary comments because they know that it will start a whole conversation about how stupid and heartless they are. The worse the comments, the more responses they(TMZ) receive. When you put down people based on their race, religion, or politics you are fanning the flames. How else do you explain some of the really discusting comments found on this site. Posters sit in anonomity behind the computer and write anything that comes into their little heads. My heart goes out to the Levert family and his children who have lost the only father they had.

96. To the Levert Family,
I send my deepest condolences to this entire family. May God give you the strength to get through this as he has everything else. To those of you who feel he deserved this 1- You don't know all the facts (remember your on the outside looking in).
2- Remember what the Bible says about casting the first stone. You to will be judged one day.

99. You are right nisha, this just goes to show how ignorant some people truely are. This is suppose to be a memorial blog for the lost of another great voice, but instead we want to get on here and speak like asses. I hope we get it together and learn the meaning of RESPECT. Respect for others as well as ourselves, In knowing what to say and when to say it. His death is certainly not a time to be sprouting out all his transgressions, and financial dept despite who or what he owes. He is gone now and it not as if anything is or can be done about his child support dept now. so people lets give our respect and sympathy to the family, and friends. that is what is needed. Just as you would like if you lost a love one. Besides you people care so much about the child support dept that Sean left outstanding why don't you all start a fund for his children, and send it to Ohio, if you can't do that then keep your stupid, rude ass comment to yourself this is not the time or place for that and certainly his children do not need it. Prayers to uncle Eddie and aunt Martha, Twila, keep you head up girl, I got ya back.

101. First and foremost, I am extending my love, thoughts, condolences, and prayers to the Levert family. Clearly, this is a tragic situation whereas the family have to endure burying another loved one less than 2 years. The Leverts are still coping with the loss of Gerald, and now Sean. I just pray that Eddie and Martha Levert can stand strong, and heal from this unfortunate situation.

They have requested for their privacy to be respected, as they get through the mourning and healing process.

I will continue to keep them in my daily prayers. Keep in mind that the Levert family are human beings, in addition to being an entertainment family, and if any of us made mistakes, we wouldn't be identified and classified as human beings.

102. my condolences to the family. I think the media is heartless also they could have easily just announce the death of another of the Levert's sons. The jail & child support information is not relevant to the death. Just more ugliness by the media that they thrive on. We need to ignore the ugliness then maybe the media will stop it put yourself in the family shoes......

104. You know, there are people on this website that judge without knowing all of the facts( betty grable) and you act like you are the most innocent angel that is walking this earth. Now, I don't agree with the fact the he didn't pay the support but you never know if he had his kids with him all the time or what. His father is now dealing with losing TWO of his boys in a little over a year. Show Some compassion for the family and stop acting like idiots!!! 105. I am sorry for the lost for Mr. & Mrs. Levert, and I"m aslo sorry for the ULGY people that posted these un-tastly comments on this sad time for the Levert family. I have been a fan with the O'Jays for a long time and also follow his son's careers too.Which I'm a true Fan and I always will be a TRUE fan..but when I read these nasty comments from what these ugly people wrote, well,,I feel this is wrong, like they have a perfet lifestyle and have no problems..Every one have issues and your people prove that for the nasty comments you wrote.I have two Childern and I feel if their father can not take care of my kids,My KIDS (did you hear me) than I will, beacause I a strong Black woman do not need to bring the courts, the county, or anyone in my business since they was not there to help me make my Kids (which i love very much..)You people should be ashame of yourselves and need to as GOD to forgive you for what you had sad..
