34. The comments people have made.....you just don't get it. If someone uses "You" in an Advertisement without your permission or any type of compensation, you can sue them. Plain and simple. Regardless of Woody's past situations--How would YOU feel if your likeness was used by a Big Corporation, without your knowledge, without your permission and without any compensation? 35. Perhaps American Apparel anticipated a lawsuit and are expecting millions in free publicity over the lawsuit? If the free publicity is worth $100 million, than $10 million is a small price for them to pay if they knew they couldn't get his permission anyway. Frankly, I don't see the point of their ad. They know he's "controversial" due to his personal history and are placing a "conservative" photo of him to advertise their product to sexualize it in a naughty way without overtly referring to his sexual history. This advertiser thinks they are brilliant beyond belief, but frankly I think it perplexes the general population and they think this ad is just strange. What next, Muslims in burkas to advertise jeans? They need to hire the people who do Manhattan Mini Storage ads. They come up with better advertising concepts.

44. Well the court in our current culture of sexual panic tends to blow things up and divorce lawyers LOVE to blow things up to position certain parties in divorces for the best possible outcome. The family courts are running amok unchecked, while the sexual panic takes over the consciousness of people everywhere. When you consider Canada just recently upped their age of consent to SIXTEEN from FOURTEEN it shows how social constructs do not imply absolute universal evil. What was illegal and perfectly normal yesterday, may become pervy and thus, by definition, damaging the next. A few years of drinking the kool aid and it is damaging.
